Picky eater...

My son is going to be 5 and has autism, he does not speak and only eats grilled cheese, chicken nuggets or waffles, pizza, pancakes He is not a turkey or hotdog or pbj eater. I'm wondering if any restaurants would make chicken nuggets or grilled cheese if its not on their menu? otherwise we may end up at mcdonalds lol

We are staying at Old Key west does anyone know if they have a pizza place there?

No pizza at OKW. You can, however, order pizza from an off-property restaurant that will deliver. They will likely not deliver directly to your room but to the resort lobby (could be an issue at a big resort like OKW). If you have a villa with a kitchen, and a car, you can bring in frozen pizza.

I know how you feel. My son is picky also. The first time we went, it was much harder for us to find food because I didn't do enough research. Now, I know every menu. We have asked in the past, if a restaurant would make a grilled cheese and none have been able to accomodate if not on the menu. Now we know where to go. We always stay at Pop Century. They have pizza, peanut butter and jelly, and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. They also have sides that my son loves. Here are some good restaurants to visit when in the parks. When you are at MK, the Plaza restaurant had a wonderful grilled cheese kid's meal. At Hollywood Studios, my son loves the pizza at Toy Story Pizza Planet. If he likes mac n cheese, visit Trails End at Fort Wilderness. My son eats 3 plates there. Almost any of the restaurants inside and outside of the park will have chicken nuggets. Have fun.

Most places have the nuggets on the menu, and I would imagine most places could make a grilled cheese. Maybe you could mention this issue when you call to make ADR's and they could note it on your reservation, and then mention it again to your server at the restaurant. I have found, in general, that most places will go out of their way to help, especially in the case of a disability.

I can totally sympathize - though I'm a bit envious as I wish my son (8, he has Asperger's) ate chicken of any kind! We've had excellent luck getting grilled cheese at all the signature restaurants. IIRC, Ohana was able to make him a grilled cheese, too. I do remember that 50s Prime Time and Mama Melrose weren't able to make grilled cheese. Beaches & Cream also makes grilled cheese.

And believe me, a big benefit of always renting a car is that we can make a pitstop at McDonald's when all else fails.

if you are planing on ADRs disney is really good about doing what ever you need you simple need to tell them in advance. im sure that if you call and have a note of your ADRs (dont forget to have them note it again when you check into the hotel or call the restaurant the day before) disney can get anything you need. for counter service, just take a look at the menus onlice that a PP gave and make sure to note the ones you can eat at.

My Aspie son too for the first few times we went to disney was on the PBJ, pizza and chicken nugget diet. (to make you feel better, at 12 he is a much more adventurous eater)

What I did was to review all the menus at allearsnet.com and created a cheat sheet on an 3X5 index card (one for each park) with the places that offered foods my son would eat. This way we we had a game plan for the day. Hubby and I can eat almost anywhere, so this worked out well for us.

While counter service restaurants are usually more restrictive, we found that the sit down restaurants would usually have one of his preferred foods available. Also, many counter service restaurants registers have both a bun/bread button and a cheese button. They were more than happy to let us get a cheese sandwich using this option. If he eats grilled cheese, this might work.
