When we went to Southern California in November, we visited DL/CA as well as Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World and the Zoo.

Something we noticed at all of the parks and have never seen at ANY park on the east coast was pickels! Yes, pickels! They were big ones (about 5+" and really plump), individually packed, in brine.

Being my DS 9 loves pickles, we got him one. $2.75! It was the softest, saltiest pickle we had ever tasted. It was horrible. What amazed me was that it seemed a standard thing to buy on carts! We saw them on Main Street in DL!

Is this really a Southern California thing? Why are they so salty? Is that normal?

Thanks...

Strange thing to eat while walking around, I know but I love pickles! We buy them all the time when we are in DL and they are usually great! The group of us that went down in November bought 10 of them one day (there were 14 of us) and everyone loved them. My pickle was crisp and great. They are salty of course, the brine is mainly vinegar, spices and pickling salt. They shouldn't be soggy thought, perhaps you just got a bad one???

We always have to buy pickles everytime we go to DL... Me and my DS and DDs LOVE THEM... Sinse you are from the east coast are you guys used to sweet pickles??? I love the salty ones Big Juciy Dill pickle for me everytime I walk into the park.....

maybe you did get a bad one :confused3

I love those things!

You can also get them at WDW too!

Usually they are nice and crispy crunchy!

I'm guessing we got a bad one. This one was not crunchy at all. Not only that, it was the saltiest thing we had ever tasted.

We are used to half-sour pickles. They are crunchy, they are very tasty, a little garlicy and not extremely salty.

I an say in all the years we have been going to WDW that we have never seen people walking with pickles....... turkey legs (mmMMmm) yes, but pickles, no! Is this new there?

I'm not sure how long WDW has had the pickles but I know that the only place that I have bought them is at the stand just outside the Riverboat. I've bought them within the last two years.

It probably takes less time to eat the pickle than an Emu, I mean, Turkey leg! :rotfl2:

The one's at WDW are more that 1/2 Sour type! :thumbsup2
