Picking your brains on a few things (tent camping related)

Ooops, thats the wrong converter plug. Thats if you have a 30 Amp plug and need to plug into a household receptacle. Let me go see if I can find a picture of the opposite.

Here it is:

DH and I both like air moving, and at Target we found a small tent "ceiling fan" that we use on mild nights, and we have a regular fan that is battery powered for nights where more breeze is needed. We live in Texas, and have thought about getting a small AC, but we just choose not to tent camp during the warm months (ie most of the year!)

Ok I have looked all over for this... (bass proshops, REI, radio shack, Walmart lol) can't find it... so I said to heck with it, I would try to order it from the place you linked the picture from... Well... they wanted $126 bucks to ship it :lmao:

Any other thoughts on where I can get it.. Maybe a more RV-y kinda of place??

$126 for shipping???? Where's it coming from, MARS??????

From Go-rving.com that's what they say... it's for DHL or something insane like that... And Ihave not been able to find it anywhere else online (googles 30 amp converter and just about anything else I can think of, and nothing comes up)

It could be that I am just electrically lame... :guilty:

I just got a 30lb package delivered by DHL.....it was only $30 s&h. the converter cant be more than 6oz!!!! Somebodies makin a serious profit on all the Handling part of that Shipping and Handling!!!

I'll look around and see if I can find something for you.

Try a few of these places. I haven't tried them myself but I did find them with a Google search for "RV electric adapter" You will find many dealers listed here through Google Checkout. I sorted by price and you should find what you want fairly easily. I believe you will want a 30amp male to a 15 amp female.

This should be just what you want

Thanks for the link Gonzo... That place wants only $15.48 to ship me the $3.31 part... :lmao:

I am going to put the search on hold until I can get to a brick and morter store.... For this first camping trip we know that we dont need it, and once we are back from the trip I am sure there will be more that we need, so a nice trip to a big RV store will be in order :thumbsup2

Just wanted to mention... I have finally saved enough money from not smoking to cover my last trip to Bass Pro Shop :lmao:

:woohoo: :goodvibes :woohoo: :goodvibes :woohoo:

I just wanted to update you all (like ya care lol) that the family and I went to Camping World today and I found the adaptor!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

We also played in some RV's that cost more than our house!!! And the kids want us to sell the house, and home school them on the road. :rotfl:

I swear as soon as they invent a full sized RV that will fold up and fit in our attic we will buy it and a spare! :lmao:

hehe , yes it has... big time.

Of course it will be hard to get the kids excited about our tent after hanging out on the super sweet RV's, but they did seem excited when I said we have TWO tents (full sized and screened house) :rotfl:

I thought of another question!!!

HOW TO STAY WARM!!! Looks like it's going to be chilly chilly, esp at night when we go camping in two weeks... heck there is a threat of SNOW~~~ :scared1:

Soooooooo Anyone use a tent heater? I was thinking about using one just for a bit at night, and to take the chill out first thing in the morning. It would NOT run all night.. just a bit. Can anyone reccomend something??

THanks!

Are you talking about FLORIDA in October? We haven't seen significant snow since the late 80's! I would think putting an air mattress with blankets underneath you and on top of you would be all you need.

An electric blanket works wonders while you are sleeping. A ceramic heater is good too but you need a way to keep from knocking it over (a milk crate might work if you have enough room).
