Picking up tickets early..

Ok I'll admit it I'm too lazy to read all 13 pages (I made it to about 5) but since this is one of multiple threads on this has anyone actually first hand posted recently that they went to pick up their tickets early at WDW and were denied? Or is this a bunch of hub-bub based on what some bus driver or phone CM has told someone?

Yes, there are reports that you CAN still pick up the tickets up to 3 days early.

We arrived at POP on Wednesday. On Thursday we picked up our tickets at DTD for a package that was to begin on Saturday at POFQ. We even added another day on Friday! We had NO PROBLEM. Nobody told us that we couldn't do it. There was no hesitation or weird behavior on the part of the cast members. They were all sweet, helpful, and wonderful...as usual. When we arrived at POFQ, I told the CM at registration that we already had/had used our park tickets and she said that she saw that in the notes. Again, NO PROBLEM. Everything went smoothly, and we have been having a blast!

Hope this up-to-date info helps!!

Maybe that's what I don't get. I have seen several people saying despite being told you cannot pick up the tickets early I have gotten them. I don't know why this is news if no one has reported actually IRL being denied early ticket pick up. To me that would be like coming back and reporting that WDW still uses busses and has FP's. I guess I just don't get why it needs to be reported that business is going on as usual when no one has reported anything contrary to that. :confused3

Disney seemed to be explicitly telling people without prompting that you could no longer pick up tickets early. This could be a prelude to actually changing it so you can't, but because you COULD and people may have already made plans, they are announcing it now and putting it into effect some indeterminate time in the future.

But it's still a :confused3

Because when free dining was announced for Oct on, the phone CM's went out of their way to tell anyone with a room only reservation ahead of a free dining reservation that they would not be allowed to pick up tickets early. I knew that if I ASKED, I would likely be told no, so I didn't ask. But I was surprised when they told that unprompted.

Since then there have been a number of responses saying CM's have told people they USED to allow this, but would not any more.

My fear is that they are laying the groundwork for a change. Those of us told by phone that we could not do it don't start arriving until October. It seems to me that if they were indeed changing the policy, they would have to have a little runout time for people who might have been told they could do this.

So while current stories of success with this are helpful, I won't feel convinced for a couple more months. I hope everyone keeps posting back here over time with their experiences.

This.

I checked everything I could out about it here on the dis. When we followed back up on our reservations with room requests, the CM noted our room only reservation and told us (without prompting) that we could not get our tickets, that, and the one on here briefly saying the same.

Plus this is first time for my family to do this on our upcoming trip (early ticket), so seeing the supporting evidence gives us confidence going forward with our 1st day plans.

I said I'd let you know if it worked. It did. We checked into ASSp on Aug. 17 then went to Pop to pick up the tickets. I got in the wrong line at first, I was in the check-in line and I was told to go over to Concierge. I just had to show ID and they gave me the tickets 2 days early. When we checked in at Pop on the 19th they put the park tickets on my KTTW card. There were no problems doing this at all. It was probably the easiest thing I did the entire 11 nights.

thanks! :thumbsup2

I was tired of worrying about it an the change possibly taking place prior to our January visit, so I just changed the withre reservation to a room only and let it be. I will get the Military tickets and be done with it.

I just wanted to report that I spoke w/Jackie in Guest Relations at DTD (thanks FigmentChick!) last night, and she reconfirmed for me that it is no problem to get your tickets early, whether it is week before or a few days before. She said whenever you arrive in town, they can pull them off your reservation for you at DTD or the parks. I know others on the thread have posted this as well, but I had to call myself and get another reassurance. This was after I had called to change my Thanksgiving week package to room only/FD and was told by the CM unprompted that I could not pick up tickets early, and when I said I believed that I could at Guest Relations, she said she was going to note on my reservation that she had told me specifically that I could not! Not very "magical" - I told her to stop and that I would speak to Guest Relations.

After talking to Jackie, I did call again and changed my reservation to take advantage of the free dining :yay:, and the CM told me again w/o prompting that I could not do it, so I just said okay and left it alone. I feel much more confident now that it will not be a problem, especially as people continue to post their successes with it here.

Just wanted to report back...we arrived this morning, two days before the beginning of our package, and went straight to Animal Kingdom's guest relations. They didn't give me any hassle about early pickup, though they did spend a long time figuring out how to do it. They ended up giving us a couple of fast passes for waiting so long.

So...Do I have to be on-site already to pick-up my tickets early? We are split staying off site at WH and then the package starts on October 31st. I would like to pick our tickets up early while we are still off site and then add days before we use them all. Can I do this? To add to this complication - we are not the only ones on the reservation. We (me, my husband, our daughter) are meeting my husband's parents at WDW on the 31st - technically check-in day. Would we be able to pick-up just our tickets (just the three of us) early without causing chaos and confusion?? What ya think?

No, you don't have to be staying on sight to do early pickup. We are off-site since we couldn't add days onto our resort package. They didn't even ask where we are staying.

We did talk about how you had to get all tickets together.

With early package ticket pickup it is an all or nothing situation. If you are going to pick up any, you must pick up all the tickets on the reservation.

Note that you should write the names on each ticket as soon as you get them so you do not accidentally use one that belongs to someone who is not yet there.

Thanks for the clarification! If we pick up all the tickets early can the unused tickets be put on the KTTW cards at check in? What about our used tickets? Are we even able to pick up all 5 tickets with only 3 of us there? Bah!!!

Thanks for the report!!! Have a magical trip :wizard:

If you read Post #15-I of Cheshire Figment's Ticket Sticky, he answers your questions. His opinion is, most likely you will not be able to put the early pickup tickets on the KTTW card. You can ask at check-in, but be prepared for the person assisting you to be unable to do that. CF has also stated in other posts, that all tickets must be picked up at early ticket pickup. There is no worry that the other people on your reservation have to be there in person at early pickup.

Thanks for the continued up-to-date information on this. I'm going to sub this thread for when people with the new FD offer post back so I can confirm it's still in effect (even unofficially) when we plan to go.

Is there a higher chance of it working at DTD over a park or resort? Most of the success stories seem to be from DTD guests.

It can't be done at the Resort, it has to be doen at either a park or DTD Guest Relations window.
