Picking up tickets early???? Still an option?

This still does NOT answer my question. If I go to Disney right now, I can get into the parks with my tickets already LOADED and paid for on my MB.

Why would I need to check in to get my 'tickets'. ?

We are staying offsite. I linked my tickets already to my MDE. I don't need to do anything else. we are also staying onsite this trip too. I can head straight to the parks and check in afterward. I don't have to pick up 'tickets'. My band is linked to my MDE.

This thread has been discussing WDW RESORT PACKAGE TICKETS.

Sorry, but that info has been proven not to be valid many times over...
with firsthand reports coming from members of the DIS accomplishing regular price-bridged ticket upgrades...
all posted since after that bad info was first mentioned.

that is very good to know!!!!! Thanks so much!

You don't have a package then, which means your tickets are not part of a package with a check in date.

i didn't book a package. I booked a room separate and bought tickets separate. All are linked and showing on my MDE. So this is for people who bought package deals. those who bought separately can head straight to the parks. Correct?

Yes.

also if you are staying offsite, you won't get magic bands

So glad I didn't book the package this way. What a total PIA!

I LOVE packages...staying off site is a huge PIA! I did it in march because i could stay free at my parents timeshare....so not worth it!!!!

Upgrading Third-Party Tickets After A Disney Price Hike

In March, 2014, Disney changed its policy for upgrading third-party tickets purchased prior to a Disney price increase. If, after Disney raises its ticket prices, you want to upgrade a ticket purchased before the, you must first pay the difference between what you paid for your ticket and Disney's current price for that same ticket. Once you do that, you'll pay the current price for whatever upgrade you want.
Example You buy a 5-day base ticket from the Official Ticket Center for $290, saving around $30 off Disney's gate price of $320. After you buy it, Disney raises its price for that ticket another $20, to $340. If you later want to upgrade your 5-day ticket to a 7-day ticket, you'll first pay $50 - the difference between what you paid Official Ticket Center for the ticket ($290) and Disney's current price for the ticket ($340). Then on top of that you'll also pay whatever is the current incremental difference between the 5- and 7-day tickets at Disney's gate prices.
It's unclear whether Disney will apply this logic to their own tickets. So far we've only heard it applies to third-party tickets purchased before a price increase.
Disney seems to be aiming this policy at people who buy third-party tickets of 4-6 days with the No Expiration option, who then upgrade to 8,9, or 10 days on their next trip. This is a small fraction Disney guests.

This is current Disney policy regarding price-bridging tickets. It was posted by Disboard's Cheshire Figment, who is a Disney ticketing employee. It was last changed on June 4, 2012:

Clarification - Price Bridging
In the announcement for effective June 4, 2012, there was a discussion concerning bridging of ticket prices.

The rule is now that tickets purchased at Full Gate Price will not be price-bridged. This appears to affect only those tickets actually purchased at a ticket or Guest Relations Window at WDW prior to the date of a price increase. Or tickets ordered for mailing or will-call.

Tickets which are sold by ticketing operations at wholesale prices are eligible for price bridging. This includes, for example, AAA, The Disney Store and authorized resellers such as Undercover Tourist or Official Ticket Center.

Tickets sold as part of a package are discounted by 12% to 15% when "sold" by Ticketing Operation to the Walt Disney Travel Company. So tickets which are purchased as part of a package can be price-bridged when doing upgrades.

And the system does allow this to be done.

Any guest can now purchase a MagicBand at WDW.

Really? is that new now too? I was there in March and it wasn't an option. I guess i didn't really pay attention in the stores, but I know many offsite guests I talked to complained about it. I had a split stay so I had a band from the first part before going offsite.

MagicBands available to purchase next week for offsite guests at a lower than expected price point

MagicBands will be available for purchase next week for guests staying offsite at non-Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Selling at a lower than expected price, the MagicBands will be available at select merchandise locations for $12.95 plus tax. This is slightly lower than the expected $15 price point. Color choices will be pink, blue, red, green, orange, gray and yellow.

As we reported a few days ago, advance FastPass+ reservations will be available to offsite day guests from March 31 2014. Those guests will not be issued a MagicBand, but will instead use their RFID ticket media for touch to enter, and FastPass+. A MagicBand can then be purchased and will be linked to the guests My Disney Experience account and will operate in the same way as their RFID ticket media. The bands will not be eligible for touch-to-pay, which is currently only available to Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests.

Offsite day guests will be able to make FastPass+ reservations for each day that is linked to their My Disney Experience account, starting 30 days in advance of the visit.
