Hi all,

I'm picking up my in-laws who are flying Southwest into MCO on tuesday :scared1: .(Kidding! I can't help it. It's like in Young Frankenstein, when they mention Frau Blucher and the thunder claps and the horses whinny). I told them I would meet them where they pick up their checked baggage. Now I am wondering... can I meet them at the luggage carousel? (does a non-passenger have access?)

thanks!

You can get to the baggage floor (2nd floor). You will have to park and than walk into the terminal on the A side. Southwest is at the departure end of the teminal. Wait at the bottom of the escalator and you will see them coming down. Just look for a bunch of commercial drivers with signs and you will know you are at the right spot.

FYI, you can park for free for up to 1/2 hour in the parking deck.

MCO also has the cell waiting lot. You can park and wait until your party calls you after they have their luggage and just pick them up at the curb. Easy in and out. Is that an option for you?

Thanks everyone this is a big help. Unfortunately they don't have a cell (actually they own one, but it sits in the car, turned off. Don't ask!), but that's a great idea!

Thanks again.

Half an hour free is essentially useless. The airport knows that hardly anyone can find a space, go in, bring everyone out, load up, get to the exit, and pay within 30 minutes.

If you want to pick up, better to have people meet you outside at the curb.

And you pick people up how often at MCO?

I pick people up quite regularly, and almost never pay a fee. I picked up DH yesterday. He only had his backpack. I parked, used the rest room, met him at security, got a cup of coffee at Starbucks, and was gone in under half an hour.

The deck at MCO is almost never full, especially if you go to the very top.

And IIR they offer free wireless Internet broadcasting in that lot as well! :thumbsup2

I want to help them with their luggage, so I need to go in.

My experience (all 2 prior pickups) is that is can vary quite a lot depending on time or day and day of week.

Wireless in the LOT? How long before people drive by me on the highway with their laptops on their steering wheels, typing away??

Thanks again!
