Has anyone ever picked up their DDE card at Epcot Guest Relations? How complicated is it if you're not going to Epcot? We're planning on picking it up when we get into town. The woman who took my DDE card order said to pick it up at Epcot Guest Relations since our trip is in less than 2 weeks. Can I activate my AP at the same time?

I'm hoping to leave everyone in the car and just drop me off. I'm the only one with an AP and thus the DDE.

Suggestions or Experience???

Last summer I picked up my DDE card at Epcot. It was pretty simple. I actually bought my AP at the airport and on the way to the Polynesian called the number to get the DDE. They told me it would be available for pick-up after 5 p.m. that day. I rode the monorail over to Epcot while my DH was with the kids at the Poly pool. It took all of 2 minutes to get it (if that) and I used it that very night for dinner at ohana's.

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. I waited until Day 2 of my trip, which happened to be the day we'd planned to go to Epcot. I had not scheduled any expensive sit-down meals before then ;) When leaving the park I just walked over and it was actually very simple. I didn't even have to wait. I just didn't want to hassle w/ going over there for the card only. At that point I was traveling with 2 children. If you have someone who can drop you off while you run up to the window at get your card, it will be no problem for you :thumbsup2 (FYI, my card was a temporary paper card. When I got home my new card was in the mail)
I already had my AP at the time but, yes, you can activate your card then and there :thumbsup2
Have fun :wizard:

I did basically the same thing as the last poster. DH stayed with the girls at the Poly while they napped and I rode the Monorail over. I got there at about 5:10 and was told that they are usually not ready until 5:30 (even though I had been told on the phone 5:00 when I ordered it that morning). So I walked around Epcot for a bit and went back at 5:30 and it was ready. The CM at the window said that the office where they do the DDE cards closes at 5:00 and then someone hand delivers them. However since you have already ordered yours this far in advance I would think that it should be there already and you shouldn't have to wait until the evening to pick it up!

Hope this helps!

I picked mine up there and it was no problem, just took a minute. I think you can activate your AP there as well but if not the ticket windows are right there and you can do it at one of those.

Is there a ticket window and guest relations on the side of Epcot with International drive? We will be at bc and would liket to walk over. I know there is one at the main gate. Is that where I need to be?

I stayed at the BCV last April. I had to use the one infront of Epcot. It's over on the right side. I had to wait a loooong time, over 30 minutes. My husband took the kids into Epcot, and I was able to catch up with them.

We didn't have any trouble picking ours up last Dec either. They hold them at the Guest Relations window OUTSIDE of Epcot (just under the monorail), so it's very easy to pick up without entering Epcot. You could easily have someone drop you off while you run up and pick up the card. To activate your AP, I think you'd have to actually enter the park, but I don't remember.

Is it always a paper version of the DDE card if you pick up at EPCOT? Or do they process plastic versions too?
Seems sensible for us to do this pick up, as we then will get use out of it next July as well as this August.

The DDE office is only open Monday thru Friday (except holidays).

The temporary card will be valid for 30 days and is paper.

Guest Relations is open from before Epcot opens until after it closes daily. There will be an envelope with your name on it that has the temporary card and a list of locations where the DDE is valid in the envelope. You must show positive (Photo) ID to get the card.

Once they have the envelope at GS they will hold it for up to 30 days. If you will be arriving on a weekend just make sure you contact the DDE office on a weekday so the card will be waiting for you.

It is only at the Guest Relations at the main gate (on you right as you are looking in to the park),

And yes, you can exchange your AP voucher for an actual AP at the same time.
