As we are staying at the Dolphin we will be entering EPCOT through the International Gateway entrance.

I've just been looking at an old park map and it looks like I would have to go all the way across to Spaceship Earth to Guest Relations to pick up the caption devices, which would be a pain to say the least.

Does anyone know if this is true, or do they have some devices at the International Gateway?

Thanks :D

Yes You will need to go all the way to the front Guest Relations to get the captioning devices. Sorry. But they are well worth it.

Talking Hands,

have you used the new caption devices? can you tell me more about them. Last Jan my wife used the reflective captioning devices.

I am wondering (for her):
  • How they work?
  • are they easy to carry?
  • are they easy to read in dark rides?
  • are they easy to use?
  • what rides/shows do they work in?

Please tell me anything you can about them. I have not been able to find anything really good describing them yet. If there is something that does you can point me to it. I am in the last phases of planning, as we are month and half left to go!

THANKS,
Mike

just bumping. Hoping Talking Hands see this and can answer my question or point me in the direction of the information I am looking for.

Thanks,

Mike

They work automatically. Castmember sets it up when you get them and then they come on automatically in the rides and venues where they work.
  • are they easy to carry?
Around your neck on a sting thingie. Very easy
  • are they easy to read in dark rides?
Backlit and very easy to see
  • are they easy to use?
    Yes
  • what rides/shows do they work in?
Check my other post for a complete list. Only available in MK and EPCOT.

Hi all,

Just wanted to add my comments on the captioning devices now that I am back and DW got to use them.

Everything TalkingHands said about them is true!

They work automatically and are easy to carry and use.

The only thing is that as you can read in my trip report HERE make sure the back lighting is working before leaving Guest Relations. They quickly and easily replaced the bad unit for us, but if we had walked all the way back to WS from guest relationa and then found out, instead of doing SE, it would have been unhappy.

We did fill out the comment card you get when you pick them up. They are still in "testing", but work great. We suggested expanding the locations that use the handheld devices, as it always takes a few minutes to get the RC thing positioned and have to be seated in the right place for it. The handheld devices could be used easier and could sit anywhere.

TalkingHands

Thanks for the info on the devices,
your comments lead DW to try them and we were VERY HAPPY with them.

Mike

Glad you enjoyed them. They are awesome. Know what you mean about the backlighting.
