Dont worry Lurkyloo everything will work itself out!
The most important thing is that you know you love each other. He probably just wants to make sure its perfect experience for you. Just give it sometime, he may just surprise you!
I say there is nothing wrong with picking out your engagement ring. I did (kind of). The first time we went to look at rings it was a huge shock and a huge mess. We were at the Houston Galleria just shopping and he took me to the front of Tiffanys and asked me So are you ready to pick out your dream ring? I had no idea what to say so I just shook my head yes. I tried on 2 rings and had a panic attack right there in the store!
Needless to say this discouraged my poor DF and I thought I had blown it. Thankfully my DF was VERY understanding and we were able to start all over again. I told him everything I wanted in a ring, an antique setting, sapphire side stones, diamonds all around the band and most of all I wanted it to look me. We must have gone to 15 stores and I was ready to give up and just settle on a ring, but DF would not hear of it. Then one day he came into the store where I work totally exited and asked my boss if he could take me to lunch right away. He had gone shopping alone and had found the one. We went to Samuels and the sales lady had the ring waiting for me. When I saw it I cried, it was the ring I had been dreaming of! He didnt buy it in front of me because he wanted to give it to me in special way (which once again I ruined, but thats a whole other story).
