Picking a deck

Any suggestions for picking a deck. I know that I need/want a veranda, which is something of a deciding factor, but besides that, is there much of a difference from one deck to another?

The one thing we found was the elevators or slow or busy very often, so being able to just go up a couple or down a couple of flights to get to the major things we needed, was great as we took the stairs alot. For the Wonder we were on deck 5(didn't chose it, we got upgraded for free) but it was nice being in the middle. For the Dream, we chose deck 7 since the ship is larger, hoping for the same convenience.

We always look at the deck plans for just above and below our room so we won't be above or below a club or other loud area. We also like to be CLOSE to the elevators just not right across from them. pirate:

Decide if you want to be close to the shows, dinner, kid clubs or the pools. This will help prioritize your needs.

I suggest close to stairs and in middle of the boat -- is is much more convenient.

We chose Deck 8 for our Dream cruise. The rest of our family is on Deck 10.

Deck 5 is our favorite b/c it's close to:

kids clubs (very convenient if you have a sleepy/tired child to carry
deck below has theater, gift shops, restaurants

It shouldn't be much different since you want a verandah. We've been on deck 7 for our Magic and Wonder cruises and loved it. I'm not sure what deck on the Dream will be equivalent, but I definitely like the higher decks.
