We just saw the travel channel and they showed the Hoop De Doo Review. We have reservations there. We have paid for our tickets. BUT, after seeing the show we realized it is not something that we would be very interested in. So now we are trying to figure out which restaurant we should add for that night. We already have ressies for....
Chef Mickey
Ohana
Donalds Breakfasouraus (sp??)
Whispering Canyon
CRT (lunch)
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
We also plan on having a sit down meal at Beaches and Cream.

So if you were cancelling HDDR and could only pick ONE OTHER sit down meal which would you pick??? Also, to help with a decision here are the "stats" for the day. LOL
The day that the Hoop De Doo Review is on is our
*7 year wedding anniversary.
*We have 2 sons (2 & 5) that will be with us. So, no V & A for us. LOL
*Will be spending the first half of the day at MGM (read/heard it is not a full day park)
*Staying at WLC
*Paying for the dinning plan. Thought it sounded good (TA said it was great) until I have read all the negative reviews on it from people just returning (not all, but some).

Sooo tell me where you would dine giving all that info. LOL

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Recommend Narcoosee's at the GF, with a dining time some time around Wishes. When Wishes starts you can go out on their deck, and watch it with the music piped in. It was a really special night. Kids are welcomed. Good service and excellent food.

Since you will be at MGM, Mama Melrose was one of the best meals we had.

And I will not go back to Disney without the dp. I loved the dp. It was so worth it. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I have got to pay it forward and get my dining reviews done. But just let me assure you, the dp was wonderful. You will love it. :cheer2:

I messed up! We will not be at MGM that day! It is our "day off." We are having an early lunch at Beaches and Cream (hoping to get there when they open so there is not a long wait). The day is open to swim or do whatever we feel like. So we are open to go anywhere. Thanks to the two that have responded!! By the way, what is Wishes???

How about a resort restaurant like Kona Cafe or the Concorse Steakhouse.

I noticed you don't have a place in Epcot World Showcase picked. My kids liked the Biergarten.

Wishes is the fireworks display put on at the MK behind the castle. It is amazing, and weather permitting Tink will be flying right before it.
Try not to miss it, it gives me tears.

How about Artist point at the WL, it is a lovely restaurant, and we have been there with our kids at that age, or you could do Wolfgang Puck in Downtown Disney or any of the boardwal restaurant, Spoodles is nice.

Do your little guys like sports??? Maybe they would enjoy the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk. At the Sci Fi Dine In Theater, you sit in "cars" and there's a huge screen in front where you watch old movies. 50's Prime Time is also fun.

You have allot of meals planned for the kids, perhaps on your anniversary, you could eat someplace without entertainment. Then I would pick Artist Point for my anniversary. Another great choice would be Grand Floridian Cafe, their Chocolate Fondue Dessert is so yummy!!! I think this is one of Disney's "hidden gems".

At their ages, I guess for fun, I'd pick Sci Fi and if you want something special for you and DH, I'd pick Artist Point.

We had an excellent meal at Jiko's - I would thoroughly recommend that. Also Cape May Clam Bake (with lots of non fishy things too) at BC.

Whatever time the Magic Kingdom is closing the night you are there is when Wishes starts. If it has a closing time of 9 then it will be starting at 9. And make sure and catch Spectromagic if they are having it the night you are there, it usually is held at 9 on a night that the park is closing at 10 and then Wishes will follow about a half hour after. Or it could start at an earlier time depending on the time of year it is.
Sorry if this sounds confusing.

We like the Concourse Steakhouse but we have a hard time with that one if our grandsons are with us because it is right by Chef Mickey's and they adore Chef Mickey's. If you have already eaten there, you may be fine though.

Cape May Cafe, Spoodles, and Kona Cafe are all others we enjoy. Our Grandsons (3 & 6) also LOVE Coral Reef with the big fish tank so that may be another to consider.

I would also recommend Artist Point or Jiko. Both have a lovely atmosphere, very special for an anniversary. Both also have kid-friendly dishes. I think the macaroni & cheese at Jiko is simply amazing. My favorite dish there is the beef with port wine reduction on a bed of the macaroni and cheese. An unexpected gourmet delight. Artist Point is also very tasty, with lots of unique dishes.

After V&A, these two are our favorites...

We had a great meal at Le Celier in Canada.

If you want to trade 2 credit meal for another 2 credit meal, how about the other show-Luau at the Poly? I have heard mixed feelings about this one but you may like the show better.

I would suggest Concourse Steakhouse or Boma if you are using one credit; California Grill or Jiko if you are using 2 credits. Concourse does have cookie kids can paint with frosting for dessert. DW and I were lucky to have romantic dinner when DD decided to take a nap - we treated her with her favorites when she woke up.

Hope you have a Happy Anniversary! Saw the Travel channel show also and DW and I agreed we didn't need to go - would rather do the Luau.

Dining plan was great. Plenty of food, well worth it if you are planning on eating in the parks. We had free dining and spoiled us. Will build that into our budget for next trip because we loved the food and want to try more places (plus our trips to Hilton Head cost us more for food then what we would pay for a week on the dining plan). Any questions let me know.

Are you really SURE you want to cancel Hoop-Dee-Doo? We were thisclose to canceling on our trip last year because it was so expensive and we weren't sure we'd all enjoy it. We eventually decided to give it a try. It turned out to be the highlight of our trip! Everyone in the family loved it, including my cynical 12 year old son who can't admit he likes anything ;)

Otherwise, we were pleasantly surprised with our dinner at CRT. Wonderful atmosphere and the prime rib was fantastic.

Happy anniversary!

Go to Kona Cafe at the Poly for dinner. It's child friendly, but has very good "adult food" as well as kids' meals. It's a great value on the plan (our bill for 2 adults and 2 kids -one under 3- was around $100 and we paid $80 that day for the plan) and great food. I recommend the crab cakes appetizer and the filet mignon - absolutely great. If your kids like ice cream, order the Kiddie Cone for dessert for them - my kids loved it! You can see it on display when you go for dinner.

If the fireworks are at 9 p.m. that night, time your dinner for around 7:30 p.m. and then go down to the Poly Beach afterward to watch the fireworks. Nice and relaxing and not crowded. You can then either take a taxi back to the hotel or take the monorail to MK and hop on the boat to WL - it might be crowded at park closing though, so you may want to hang out on the beach for awhile.

By the way, your restaurant picks look great! We love the dining plan and are doing it again on our trip next week. Your 2 and 5 year old can share many CS meals so you won't have to pay for him.

I would suggest an Epcot restaurant since you don't have any listed, especially since it is your anniversary! I would suggest LeCellier or maybe Biergarten. Good luck!
