Hey everyone!

We are returning to Disney in April and are staying four nights at the new BCV. We arrive on Saturday night though and wanted to try another resort out. Here are the narrowed choices:

*Port Orleans French Quarter: Never stayed here before....Looks very pleasant. I picked it because I like to spend some time at the resort to explore a bit and this one is small, which would make it easier! Plus, it is reasonably priced!

*Yacht Club: Never stayed here before....Would make transferring of luggage and check in at BCV very easy. We don't mind being around the same surroundings as we wouldn't mind trying all the resorts! With a code the price wouldn't be too bad, without one it is high!

*Swan/Dolphin: Never stayed here before.....Looks interesting. Do they transfer luggage from here to BCV? Not sure about that....would make BCV check in easy...better rates than the deluxes

*Contemporary: Never stayed here before....I thought that since we are spending Saturday night and Sunday at the MK it would be a good choice. We could transfer luggage and take the monorail to check in (going to Epcot first of course). With a code I could get a good deal, without one, not sure.

*Boardwalk Inn: I have been here, he has not. We LOVED the villas and would not mind staying at the Inn. Would make BCV Check in very easy and transferring of luggage too! Might not be bad pricing with a code...without one it is really high!

This is a tough one. But here it goes
-Since you are staying at the BCV I probably would not pick the YC, only because they are sister resorts and why not try something new.
-I love the FQ but if I could stay at a deluxe I would pick that instead.
-Swan/Dolphin don't scream Disney and I am not crazy about the high rise feel.
I guess I would choose the Boardwalk Inn. I have always wanted to stay there. The only problem is you have stayed there so you may want a change.

O.K. I guess it would have to be between the YC and the BWI. Scratch what I said earlier about the YC. You haven't tried it so why not! I just re-read this post and I am not sure if it really helps you.:o . I tried. .
Have Fun!!:p

In your case I would choose either Contemporary or POFQ.

The others are in the same area you are already staying in. I would try a different area of the World.

Contemporary is my last choice for a deluxe--too much like a big city hotel, not enough like a laid back resort. But I too would like to try it someday if I could stay in the tower.

POFQ is my FAVORITE moderate because of size, easy access to DD and because you get two for the price of one with POR right next door.

Sorry I could only narrow it down to two!

My first thought is French Quarter. We love the quaint feeling of this resort and you can explore all the way over to it's sister resort, Riverside.
But a room in the tower at The Contemporary with a view of Magic Kingdom is really awesome. I don't know that I would bother staying there with a regular view though.
For 4th of July weekend, we stayed 2 nights in a studio at BWV and then 2 nights in the Inn. We didn't bother with cooking or anything so the little kitchenette in the studio wasn't such an asset.
When we switched to the Inn, we liked our room so much more! We had a great view of Epcot and the bathroom sink has 2 sinks and more counterspace. That may seem trivial but we just liked it a lot more.
We get good deals renting from DVC members so we will almost always have a studio in the Villas but I actually prefer the rooms in the Inn.
I'm sure I haven't help bring you any closer to a decision, it's very hard to know what is best for someone else.
Whatever you do, I hope it's a great vacation!

Since you are going to be spending time at MK Saturday and Sunday, I chose Contemporary. Even if you are in one of the wings (my son loves the Contemporary and we have only stayed in the wings thus far). 2nd choice would be Port Orleans, especially if you were to choose to go to Downtown Disney (really liked the boatride for some reason).

What about the poly and if not what about WL. I am sure no matter what resort you pick you are going to have a ball. I loved WL and you get the boat ride to MK. I loved Poly cause it was a hop, jump and a skip to the monorail to get to the MK.let us know:D

I had ruled out the Poly just because I would want to spend more than one night there! You know what I mean? ;)

The ones we had chosen we figured would be good choices for just one night. I just hope a code comes out!

Thanks for you help guys! Keep the votes/comments coming!

I vote for the BWI! :) I think you guys would love it... Brendan and I did. ;)

Definitely the Contemporary! I choose this resort for the following reasons:

POFQ- if you are willing to pay the extra $$$ for a deluxe, go for it! It's a nice resort for a moderate, but of course, not quite as nice as the deluxes

BW- you've stayed there before and it is also in the Epcot area with the BCV... you may want a change

YC- it's the sister resort and you will definitely want a change! (It's a bit stuffy too, in my opinion)

S&D- it is in the Epcot area also... the resort itself does not appeal to me and it is not a Disney-owned resort

This is why I rule out the others.
The CR is right next to the MK, so it will be a change from Epcot. The monorail also runs through and the BC does not have that, so that is also a nice change. If you stay there, in my opinion, you should pay the extra for a tower room. The wings are OK, but I found during my stay that the CR was much more enjoyable when you stayed in the tower-- there is a big difference. Go for a MK view. Make sure you go to the California Grill for your one night there for dinner! The panoramic view of the MK and great firework views are amazing! Request a table by the window. The Contemporary is a great resort to spend one night at.

The BC is perhaps my favorite resort! I have not stayed in the villas, but I love the resort itself! Take advantage of the Cape May Cafe buffets and Stormalong Bay. Take a quick visit to the YC and make sure you spend some time along the Boardwalk! Enjoy your stay, regardless of which resort you choose!

I also voted for CR - I think it is a great choice for one night, particularly as that is when you will be visiting MK. And, as you said, you want to "try" the different resorts. All the others are still in the same area as where you will be staying, except for POFQ. If you are looking to economize, then POFQ.

However, you said you want to spend a bit of time exploring the resort. That would be my reason for NOT choosing POFQ....as, to me, there's not much to explore! There's the check-in, a food court, a lounge called Scat Cats, a pool bar and a pool. It's laid out in a square. There's a boat to DD or to POR. That's about it! Not knocking it...we had a nice couple hours at POFQ, but we had a son who wanted to try the pool and slide, so that gave us a "reason" to be there. Otherwise, we would have walked around for about 15 minutes, maybe enjoyed a drink at the pool bar, and got back on the boat to POR.

At CR there is so much more to do. Just watching the monorails from the Grand Concourse can be fun. There are so many restaurants and lounges right AT CR, plus shops, plus recreation, plus a monorail ride away from two other resorts...that for one night, that's my pick!

Have fun! The planning is just as much fun as going there! :)

Well, really the only ones of those that I would definitely eliminate would be the Swan/Dolphin... it just doesn't have that same Disney feel, even though it is very convenient, and the Boardwalk Inn--- only because you will already have been to BWV, so for a change of pace, I would go elsewhere!

PO-FQ... if price is an issue, then I would choose this one. It is very laid back, beautifully landscaped, and has the wonderful boat to DTD!

Contemporary---now we love this resort. It is high energy, convenient, and fun. Also, since you have been in the Epcot area, this would give you a change of pace.

Yacht Club--- also very beautiful, and convenient to Epcot and MGM. You would also get to use Stormalong Bay.

Good luck with your choices!

You guys have really convinced me to try the Contemp.....so I think I will!

Please keep voting!! ;)

Hi Nikki,

I voted the Comtemporary. Not sure I can justify why. I just figured as you will be spending time in MK it just made sense. Not to mention how I Love to change resorts just to check things out.

Have a great one,
Lisa

Beach Club is my all time favorite and I can't beleive I am going to say this, but have you considered the AKL? I really didn't care for it because of the dark decor and lighting, but I did love waking up in the AM and looking at the animals. I told my husband the only time I would consider staying there again is for a one or two night stay, this way I could be in awe of the animals, but not be stuck there for too long.

Hey guys....thanks for the votes and opinions!!! This is helping a lot!

Terry--yes I definitely want to stay at AKL, but I didn't want just one night! We loved WL and my fiance is an animal lover....knowing this I wanted to wait until we could stay there for several nights! Definitely will stay there in the future!

Either the Contemporary or the YC. They are both awesome!

Contempo is my personal favorite .. i like the atmosphere of the monorail coming in

Contemporary, I just think that if you spend time on one side of the resort then it will make it nice to go to the MK side for the rest of the trip. Have a good time whatever you decide.

Hey guys! Thanks for the help

I just called CRO and booked the Contemporary for the one night in April....I AM doing the tower and the rate was 435.00 (ouch) but I am really hoping for a code!! ;)
