Pick an oyster

And the Pick-a-Pearl Japan CMs really put on a "show"-some of the best CMs at WDW!:)

Can also do at a kiosk by water at beach club. We actually did here last time and our daughter got a beautiful pearl!

Thumbs up for the Japan Pavilion. They really put on a show there. Here are a few pictures from when I picked my oyster and ended up with twin pearls! This was one of my favorite experiences of our trip.

just want to second how great of an experience it is and also a fairly affordable souvenir (~$17). Just note if you do want to get the pearl mounted on a piece of jewelry you will have to allow some time for that.

Gif I made from our experience there:

Can you still do it there? I checked there a year ago, and you could then. About 10 years ago, we got a beautiful ring there. DH picked the oyster, I picked the ring's setting, and my anniversary ring was made. Since I didn't get an engagement ring (my choice) this is in that place of honor.

my niece and I loved our experience at the Japan Pavillion with picking an oyster. Beautiful pearls!!

Love the Japan pick a pearl. I currently have 6 pearls. Next year I plan to get 4 more, and then have them strung together by a jeweler.

We did it and LOVED it. We picked 4 pearls, all were large ones and one was a blue pearl! My daughter and I got matching necklaces - hearts, and then we brought home Cinderella's carriage for the grandmothers for Christmas. Japan pavillion is where we did it, great show. We went in summer, it was afternoon, very busy, and I think we waited maybe 10-15 minutes to pick our pearl (including waiting in line to pay for it), it took probably 10 minutes to pick the four pearls and then we spent about half an hour or so waiting/picking/paying for jewelry. So all said and done about an hour for the experience. It was definitely worth it. Not to mention standing inside in the a/c for an hour was heavenly, lol. When in Japan, check out the drummers too, they were really good.

We did in three weeks ago. My daughter got a pearl and my son got two pearls. He's resisting giving them to his mom! :-)

We bought my daughter a Cinderella carriage type of necklace on Amazon where the pearl fits inside a "cage" that is formed from the passenger compartment of the carriage.

My only criticism is that the CM performing pick a pearl seemed to be in a hurry and was really hurrying everything along. I'm glad that I got it on video so that I can see what went on!

Let me explain the differences I have found between all the places. There are in 4 places you can buy a pick - a - pearl, to the best of my knowledge. They are Typhoon Lagoon, Beach Club Boardwalk, Disney Springs Marketplace, and the Japanese pavilion. With the exception of the Japanese pavilion, the other 3 are owned by the same company. My husband buys me one or two (Sometimes 3) EVERY time we go from various locations so I have had some decent experience with them all.

First, we absolutely PREFER the Japanese pavilion. They are so nice, but the downside is, you're likely to get a white pearl. Sometimes, you'll get lucky, but the majority of my pearls from there have been white. They don't do any high pressure sales and their settings are nice and reasonably priced. My last pick resulted in twin white pearls and a large white pearl which I am hoping to do something in a Mickey setting since the twin pearls are the exact same size.

The other three locations, while having nice staff, will absolutely try and pressure you into a setting of your pearls and they are all horrendously priced. However, the upside here is you're likely to get a non-white pearl. My last pick here resulted in 2 silver pearls the exact same size from two different oysters that I turned into studs and a steel blue pearl I wear in a pendant. These were purchased at the Typhoon Lagoon location. However, the Disney Springs pearl was pink.
