Pick a pearl, yay or nay?

We just did this on Friday & it was great fun! I got 4 oysters and had brought the carriage cages & chains with me for me, my MIL and my DDs (DD1 is too little, but she'll have it when she's older). We had great luck -- DS picked the oyster for the baby, and he got TWINS! I got a 7.5mm one, my DD5 got a 7.75 (it BARELY fits in the cage) and MIL picked a beautiful 6.75 I think.

Bit of drama as we left, DD5's necklace didn't clasp correctly, so she comes running over with just the chain crying. Some VERY VERY VERY nice people stopped to help and found not only the cage, but the pearl -- like 40 feet away from where we were standing! This total stranger went out searching in the rain with us, it was amazing. Pixie dust for sure!!

Anyway, I think it's a great keepsake. The other one we did that I want to continue is the charm bracelet. I got both DDs a bracelet & a few charms and I plan to let them pick a few each trip from now on!!

We did this in June. I told DD she could pick one and DS that he could pick one for me. DS said he wanted a pearl of his own! Well, he hadn't asked for anything so I said OK! We each picked one. Total for the 3 was $51. When we came back from our trip, we got online and found pearl cages that we liked. DD & I have matching cages. DS couldn't find anything appropriate but I told him we could save it for when he gets older. I plan on doing this again when we go back.
