Pick a Pearl Settings and Cages

Oooh, I just saw a shark one on etsy, that would be very cool for a boy too. The pearl goes in the shark's mouth. There's a turtle too.

We have never done this before and hope to do it in December. Has anyone seen a case/setting for charm... like to add to a charm bracelet- not a pendant for a necklace? Either at WDW or Etsy?

We are both very sensitive to nickel in jewelery. I ordered the pearl cage from ebay. It says it's silver, but I replaced just the chain with a nickel-free one from a reputable nickel-free jewelery site that I've used before, just in case. I got a bit longer chain so the carriage rests on our clothes instead of our skin. However, there have been plenty of times the cage touched our skin and it didn't bother us. I think for us the contact has to be constant and for more than a few hours to make us itchy and red.

Thanks for the ideas on ebay. Ebay has sterling silver cages, more expensive of course. The ones on Etsy are silver coated but are better priced. I think I'll get the sterling cages for adults and the etsy ones for the kids.

Buying the cage ahead of time is a good idea, as I was surprised at what the total cost would be when I got there (even knowing this was my big souvenir).

I managed to pick twins, which I was thrilled about, but it did mean the pearls were smaller, and would have fallen out of most of the cages. I ended up with a very basic twirled cage for one, as the gaps were smaller, and a bottle of purple sand for the other. The cage I have is the middle top row in the picture below. The cages are on a hinge (kind of like a locket) so you open it up and drop the pearl in and close it up again, They also put a twist-tie through the loop to keep it closed.
Bear in mind that chains etc are also charged extra - I decided to just bring it home and buy a chain here. I have a friend who makes jewelry who can make me a custom length chain for a lot less.

It was definitely a brilliant experience. They go above and beyond what I was expecting and seem genuinely excited and thrilled for you. I loved it.
