I think this was in Japan. Do they still do this? You pick an oyster and then you can get the pearl set in rings, necklaces etc. I would like to do this as a birthday gift for a granddaughter.:bday:

Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you want to save some $, buy your necklace or setting on Amazon or Etsy before you go. Better quality, less $$, still get the full experience with the oyster.

Yep, and it's inside Mitsukoshi, the large store in the Japan pavilion. Have fun!!

My daughter did it last summer and loved it! I would also recommend buying a cage necklace before you go as they are a lot cheaper. I bought her a Cinderella's carriage necklace on Etsy for about $10 I think. It was beautiful, and she loved being able to put her newly picked pearl in it and wear it the rest of the trip!

Yes and there is also a Pick a Pearl in Disney Springs, Beach Club and Typhoon Lagoon.. But Japans is the best experience! We loved it! I bought my carriage cage necklace on Etsy for $8.50 before our trip and brought them with us. I picked 2 oysters - one was a 7.5mm and the other was twins. It worked out perfect.. I kept the 7.5mm for myself and gave each twin pearl in carriage cage to each of my nieces. Great experience!

If we went in the afternoon, how long would you have to wait??
It all depends on how busy they are. When we went, it was around 3pm and we walked in and it was busy, but more people were just watching than actually doing it. We went to the register to pay and they give you a number. It aas surprisingly a shorter wait than we thought, maybe 3 or 4 people ahead of us. We waited only about 15 minutes before they called our number.

Oh my goodness this is all new info to me! I'm taking my daughter age 9 for the first time, mommy daughter trip, and I was trying to surprise her with something unique at Disney once we are there and this just sounds perfect! Off to read up on this and to check out etsy. Thank you !!!!!!
