I have read many post on this site about Bob Jackson at Riverside.

For those of you who know who I am talking about, you understand how much fun he is.

For those of you who have only heard of him and not seen him perform....you have no idea what you are missing.

We just got back from POR in late August...we were there for 9 nights and saw Bob 6 of those nights.

The 3.5 hours he performs goes by like 35 minutes. If your not careful, you will be asked to participate while he plays and sings. (Such as jumping around or dancing around the room in front of everyone.) His famous line is "you'll never see these people again."

If you have children, he LOVES them, and gets them involved in the show just as well.

It is a great way to end your day. Even if you are not a drinker, all are welcomed.

We actually noticed several families having dinner while the show was going on.

We have stayed at DXL/POR every year since 1999. The first year we would just stand in the hallway leading to the foodcourt and watch him thru the windows. We could not believe all the fun everyone was having.

We just bought our plane tickets this past Wednesday and we are going to be staying at POR for T-Giving weekend. (Nov 27 to Dec1)

I actually e-mailed Bob to make sure he would be there that holiday weekend. He e-mailed back and said "yes'.

On the nights he does not play, the lounge is very quiet. POR has no idea how much they are losing by not having Bob there a 5th night (like he was pre 9-11)

When we were there in August, his schedule was Wed thru Sat. nights 8:30 to 12 Midnight.

Like I mentioned before, If you know who I am talking about, you know about all the fun.

If you have never seen him, you have no idea what your missing.

Trust me, We will be there all four nights over T-Giving.

Come join us. !!!!

Okay - I have to offer a differing opinion on this. We were there over Labor Day weekend and while trying to find a quiet place to sit and have an evening drink we were out of luck. The pool closed at 9 and this was our only option for on-site. We found it too loud and obnoxious - we met a great couple from England, but could hardly hear each other. It was crowded - we had to wait for a spot to sit and beyond loud.

DR and I are not prudes by any means and are all for having a good time, but we like our resort lounges to be quiet and relaxing and commented on how we would have switched resorts if we were staying there longer than the two nights.

I know that many people enjoy this and I think that's great, but this is a warning for those who may want a quieter place to have a drink. When we want to get rowdy we go to PI!

Again it was fine, but we wouldn't have been able to take more than a night of it!

Kinggoofy, I couldn't agree w/ you more! We stopped by numerous times after the parks closed.

Only issue I had was the smoking; I know its a lounge but there was really no true smoke-free area.

Sorry you feel that way. Different strokes for different folks !!

Melissa, why did you not go over to PO-FQ to Mardi Gras and have a drink there? It is quiet, peaceful, and they have good drinks, as well!

After walking around all day at the parks we didn't feel like walking all the way over to FQ pool bar - which closes around the same time as Riverside or Scat Cats. As much as WDW wants to tell us that these are the same resort - It is still PO and DxL to us. The boat was no longer running and with tired feet - this was our only option.

Again I'm not saying that for some people great - it definitely is, but to people who don't like things that loud and crowded - just a warning. If you like your bars quiet this may not be the best place unless you are willing to walk over to FQ.

Its definitely a case of different strokes, we like a quiet lounge and we like to go there every evening to wind down. If that is important to people I'm just saying that uts something to consider, had we been staying there for any length of time it we would have had to switch resorts. We found the same problem at Victoria Falls at AKL. We love the lounge - its beautiful and they have one of if not the best beer selections on property, but with it being directly over Boma - its very loud and very crowded. As much as we love Tambu Lounge we only go there early or very late as it can get crowded too.

Just offering a different opinion and something for people to consider.

kinggoofy, I thought you were talking about my family when you said you had been going every year since 1999 and stood outside the lounge looking in...thats exactly what we have done each year. It just seems they are having so much fun, BUT, we were SO tired at the end of the day and had to get the kids to bed. I love this kind of entertainment!! So, I vow to get us there this coming April for an entire evening of fun. We just joined the DVC and are going to the Beach club villas, but are staying at POR for 3 nights before hand (before Easter and then easter week). I've already scheduled in our second night to go to hoop de doo at 5, then right back to this lounge to see BOB!:bounce: I can't wait.
