This might have been posted before, but I thought I would share just incase it hasn't. Somebody has uploaded pictures of their stay at The Polynesian on Trip Advisor. They got a new room! It looks great. It's nice to see photo's of an actual room being used by a guest and not just a publicity shot/photo of it half finished. :)

Hey my photos were not publicity shots but thanks for sharing the link. Looks just like the room I was in and it looks like they did not put in the headboards they had. Also looks like there will be no additional table to what I saw in August. I get the feeling that room was not completely done either since the slider was not changed out yet. I bet we will see some of the other rooms turn out even different than those.

Thanks again

Steve

Boy, I sure hope there will be a table! Where will room service set up if not. The test room I saw had one in it although I know it was just a test room.

Even the value resorts have tables.

On a side note, my husband found an old picture of a Maui Wowie which was a huge concoction CCs made back when they had real hard serve ice cream. This thing was huge. But anyway, it is on the table in our room and it was fun to see the tables and chairs from before the redo some years back now. This picture was from 89 or 90 I think.

As far as I know there will be no plans for a table now that there is more counter space in the room. Maybe they will bring in a table when you order. Guess you will have to order something and find out.

I would love to see the old photo. That woud have been before the redesign in 96 so it would be the "OLD" tables.

Aloha

Oh, no!!

Yep, it's clearly the old table and chairs although the picture isn't that great. My husband took it to show our son but I could send you a copy once he's back. Don't know how to email photos though?? But it's not the kind you would want on your site. Our daughter is a little bit in it but mostly it shows the sundae and a table littered with CC carryout cups, etc..

I am really hoping for a table and chairs - I just use that so much!

I want the table back also. If not then they will be losing our big room service $$$! LOL!

Steve, We have some of the original Tokelau room pictures but they are not even worth scanning they are so old now. But we had your secret room with the vanity in the main room. It is the 1st floor, corner room facing the pool. End near Raroatonga. The furniture was all dark wood and dark rantan. They had the long flat dresser with tv. The rooms where terrible late 70's / 80's motiff. The secret "vanity" was located to the right of the bed headboard, backing up to the bathroom hall, it had a little cut out area for it, it was set into it. Not very large, but had a little bench with it, and big enough for 1 person to sit there and use the mirror.

When we where at the Poly in late august / sept It did not look like they intended to change all the sliders? The parking lot side of rapa nui had not been started at all, I wonder if they did any of them. :earseek: ?? Just wondering, maybe they where just waiting for parts.?

I wondered where those rooms were. Those were test rooms for them to figure out how the new rooms in Tahiti and Rapa Nui would look when they built them in 1985.

All I can do is guess that they are not only waiting for parts but Rapa Nui had to reopen the second floor while they were doing the 1st and the 3rd in August because they needed the room so it might have been they did not want to wall off the building to put in the new doors (just a guess). Maybe once they open the other longhouses up they can close down Rapa Nui to finish the doors.

In late August I was told that the headboards and wall lights had not been received yet for Rapa Nui - a problem with the shipping order apparently. This may explain why the 'old' headboards and lights are in the pictures on TripAdvisor. Who knows. Maybe they will switch them out at a later date. I doubt they will permanently keep the 'old' headboards since they went through the trouble of staining the chair rails dark. Just a thought.

Man, I sure hope I'm lucky enough to get one of these bad boys in january. Were staying in Hawaii Garden View!!

Thanks for the link!
