Photos of snake at WL!!

I found some dark, blurry photos of the brown water snake I saw in the Wilderness Lodge pool. People with "snakeophobia" better look away now!

Wouldn't you love this job? This Disney Animal Control guy jumps into the pool to catch the snake with that grabbing tool!

Here two other Animal Control guys putting the snake into a bag, to take him safely away!

I am actually fascinated by snakes, so I thought it was very cool to witness this! :teeth: And I would not hesitate to stay there again! :)

We were at AKL last month and came back late almost every nite from emh. We drove ourselves to the park so would walk from the parking lot up the paths to the lodge at 1,2 & 3 am. I was always on the lookout for snakes and criters. luckily we never saw any or was making enough noise to scare them back in the bushes before we saw them.

I live in South Florida. We have gotten 4 snakes in our pool this year, 3 of them while we were in it. The first time dd and I were in the pool. She has very long dark hair. She was floating on her back with it trailing behind her. I had my back to her reading a magazine on the edge. I turned around to talk to her and saw a snake in her hair tendrils. :earseek: I screamed so loud. Scared the poor little thing to death (her and the snake :rotfl2: ) She jumped up and I was screaming,"Get out of the pool! Get out of the pool!"

I don't think my heart has been the same since. Needless to say I don't turn my back to the middle of the pool anymore. I stand against the edge and keep a look out. We have had 2 others in the pool when we were, but were able to get out before they got near us.

Yeah, it's awful down here. You guys might want to reconsider your Florida vacations. Heat, humidity, snakes, hurricanes....you guys should stay where ever it is that you are........and leave WDW all to me. :smooth:

You're really lucky you didn't tell a CM about this! They would've changed your bill and charged you with a "Savanah View" Room! ;)

Thanks for the lovely pictures Eeyore! I was just in that pool :scared1:
My grandmother used to find copper heads and rattle snakes in her hen houses and chop them in half with a hoe. I witnessed it once as a child. Do you suppose that image has had any long lasting affects?

If I EVER saw a snake near me in a pool, I think I would have a heart attack!!!!! :earseek: No joke man, I am scared of snakes!!!!!

WOW.............

Now what?? :confused3

Do I really make those WL ressies for next May???

Of course! I would daresay there are few places in all of Florida--or the south for that matter--where you won't find snakes, lizards, and other critters roaming about. Sure, WL may have a few more, but they most certainly aren't alone. I'd rather have encounters with snakes than with rude park visitors during peak season. :paw:

I know they are there, but I have never seen a snake in all my trips to WDW. But give me snakes over rodents anyday! Those things are horrendous. We have seen several mice and had the unfortunate experience of sharing our OKW villa with a flying squirrel.

ITA sleepydog25! Sometimes it hard to tell the difference.

Being that it was at a Disney resort, I may have thought it was all part of the experience. You know just another animatronic character. Actually I would have freaked out!!!!

We just booked WL but if I tell my DH about the snake he will be on the phone ready to cancel, so we'll just keep this a secret. :rotfl:

I have only seen a snake once at Disney and it was at WL, it was in a tree near the bus stop. My biggest fear of moving to Florida was the snakes since I am deathly afraid, I have only seen 1 near my house but that was enough to cause me to have a horrible panic attack. My husband literally had to carry me in the house because I turned to jello. I guess we probably should have thought a little harder about moving to Florida!!!

While in WDW we saw 2 snakes - both during our 2000 trip!!!. First was in the theatre for "Beauty and the Beast". The CMS came and put it back into the planters along the side. Second, was a big fat snake climbing up the outside of the HM - just to the side of the entrance - and it was night(!) - verrry spooooky!!!! :earseek:

After the Wilderness Lodge opened in '94 a housekeeper found a snake curled up under a Guest's pillow on their bed in a room on the 4th floor. Sankes can get anywhere they want to....

About the same time over at the Grand Floridian there was a snake in the wall at the Front desk where the mail slots were...

Where there is water there will be snakes....I live in Orlando near a retention pond and saw 3 baby snakes a few weeks ago by my front door. If you are scared of snakes stop at a store and pick up moth balls. Scatter them by the edge of your patio and they should stay away.

I hate snakes, except of course Kaa in Fantasmic :earsboy:

I hate snakes too. I am all curled up right now. Why did I have to read this thread. I know they can get anywhere but no more ground floor rooms for me it Disney. I will still bring moth balls if it works. Anyone know if they work in plumbing? That is my biggest fear.

We spotted this lengthy fellow from our 3rd floor balcony. He was HUUUUGGGEEE! Of course, he grows longer with each telling of the story, since I'm terrified of snakes. I don't think I'll be staying in a ground floor room any time soon!!
