photos of fireworks over castle - camera settings?

I have tried several times to take some photos of the fireworks over the castle. I have a Nikon 35mm & am an avid photographer. But this shot eludes me...

Any advice on film speed & camera settings to get a *nice* photograph [not really grainy] of Cinderella castle with the fireworks in the background?

Also, where is the best location for this? I am inclined to think up close to the castle, in front, maybe with a wide angle lens...

THANKS!

Well last year I had a Kodak Advantix and I used 400 speed film. I do believe I turned the flash off. It turned out really great and I was in front of the castle on the side of tomorrow land near main street.

This year I have a digital camera so I am going to see how that works out.

very important: turn the flash off and use a tripod so it's not jittery.

Most cameras have either night-time shot or "bulb" setting. Use either of them ("bulb" set to 1 second will be best) to get nice pictures.

See one of the example here .
