Photos of Escape Cakes?

The standard cake feeds 50, so you should have no problem saving a good sized piece of it for your anniversary.

We only did the cake cutting for the photographs. We cut it, fed each other a piece and then the coordinator had it boxed up and sent to our room. She gave us a choice if we wanted it sent to our room or sent over to 1900 park fair for our 'reception'. There were only three of us, and there was no reason to cut the cake again at park fair, so we sent it to the room. our 16 year old dd was taken in the limo to the room. She was able to put the cake away and change into warmer clothes since it was so cold that day. Then the limo brought her back to us.

Sorry, a few more questions:

-Where are the cake styles & flavors listed in the Wish Books? I created an Escape version & looked through the custom one & can't find a cake option.

-Also, the only section I did find on cakes is in the Escape wish book & it says:
"The Cake & Champagne Toast is for the bride & the groom & 8 additional guests."

We are going to have about 16 people in total, including me & df, plus there will likely be 2 infants attending who will just be there for the ceremony, but not eat the cake-I know we can order additional bottles of champagne, but what about the cake size? We are only inviting our priority guests as it is & these are immediate friends & family-no way to downsize this! Will we have to pay extra $$ for a larger cake as well? I was under the impression that the Escape cakes accomodated 18-20 people before i read that.

Geez, we are still at least a year & a half away from just booking this stuff & I'm already getting overwhelmed!!

The cake like mine will feed WAY WAY more than 20 people. We ended up throwing the bottom layer away after the three of it ate on it for several days. We then took the top layer home and had a mini celebration at home where we served it to 5 people.

Thanks Dmslush!! I guess maybe they were just referring to the champagne in the planning book when they mentioned only accomodating 8 other guests. Wow-50 guests!!

So, it sounds like you did the cake cutting at your ceremony site?
Hmm...I'm not sure what would be best-as mentioned, we'll have 16 other guests (plus likely 2 infants). I think I'd like to cut the cake at the Garden View Tea Room, since we'll be eating there following the ceremony. Maybe I'll downsize the Tea Room meal to just small sandwiches, fruit & cheese, tea, & champagne (cut out the additional sweets) so people have room for cake.

But, then again, it might be pretty for pictures to cut the cake outside at the ceremony site....

I would definately do the cake cutting at your ceremony site. It makes for beautiful photos. They will have to box up the cake for you anyway. If you do it at the GF tea, they would likely have to reassemble it or charge you more to just do it there rather than at the site. I would do the official cake cutting and photos at your ceremony site then have it boxed up to serve at your tea. Best of both worlds !

Thank you-I think your advice makes the most sense!

How long do we get the ceremony site anyways?

Don't know what I would do if I didn't find these boards!!

Yes, these boards are certainly a lifesaver. They are an invaluable source of info. That's why I come back to offer advise as it was great when I was planning.

I think they plan on roughly an hour for the escape ceremony including cake cutting and first dance.

They didn't give me a set time because of the cold weather, we really, really cut it short. We did the vows, cut the cake, and did a quick dance. The temps were in the 40s and the wind was wild, so we were freezing. We then went straight to doing pictures.

I arrived at the Poly at 2:00pm and we went to the Grand Floridian at about 3:00pm.

Thanks Dmslush-that was helpful info.

So, it sounds like you had a 12 noon ceremony?

I must sound so clueless, but you get a dance with the Escape package?? Wow, I thought I was going to have to be sacrificing that by choosing this package! Do they give you a CD player and play the song you want and
you get to do your first dance there?

So, can you give me the general rundown of what "activities" they allow for at the ceremony site? (i.e. actual ceremony, cake cutting, first dance, etc...)

My ceremony started at 2:30, so it took about an hour for everything to happen.

You do get to dance with your escape package. You will get a violinist with your package and they will play whatever you want them to. We danced to "You'll be in my heart" from Tarzan.

Hi, I had an Escape Wedding in December. I believe if you are having your wedding at SBP or Yacht Club Gazebo you will be using the Boardwalk bakery for your cake. The bakery gives you more flavors to choose from. I had baverian creme with strawberries as my filling. I also upgraded my cake with white chocolate snowflakes and the white chocolate castle topper. It cost me $50 for the snowflakes and $100 for the castle topper. I don't know how to post pics. as I am not computer savvy, but if you would like to see pics. of my Escape Wedding you can go to www.mistymiotto.com , then go to Michelle annd Jim Wedding, password Fischer. I hope this helps a little as I did have alot of upgrades and I don't know if you are interested in upgrades.

That seems like a perfect amount of time. Part of the reason why I like the Escape is because we both don't like being center of attention for too long!
We tend to get a bit shy with these things:)

I love that song you picked from Tarzan:goodvibes
I think I'd probably like the Beauty & the Beast song for us.

Ooh, I've heard good things about the BW bakery! :goodvibes
You're cake sounds yummy! We were thinking about a marble cake with white chocolate and strawberries, but bavarian creme sounds good too-is that the yellow pudding-ish filling?

I am interested in checking out your picture, but I can't figure out how to get to it from that website. Do I click on the html page or flash? Where is the link to get into your specific gallery?

Thanks so much!

Our wedding was at noon, and we just "faked" the cake cutting at the YC Gazebo but did do a quickie champagne toast, a first dance, and obligatory family photos. Then our coordinator boxed up our cake and it took a little ride with us in the limo over to Portabello Yacht Club (DD). Once we had finished eating lunch, the servers brought out the cake and cut it for real. We had a total of 16 guests, and everyone was able to have a piece. We put the top in a box, where it's sitting in our freezer now, and there was more than half of the bottom layer leftover.

When we made arrangements with Portabello, we were told by the sales coordinator that they would charge us a $2.50 pp cake cutting charge, even if the cake was already cut and even if not everyone had a piece of cake. (Huh?) But we were never charged the fee. Whether this is because the actual servers didn't know about it or whether it was because they were thrilled that we gave them the bottom layer to split amongst themselves, I don't know.

I personally didn't want the guests to fill up on champagne and cake before lunch, which is why we waited. GL deciding what to do!

Hi, You click on flash and then online proofing. The marble cake from the bakery is very good as well, we ordered a marble cake for MIL it was her birthday on our wedding day and we wanted her to feel special as well. Believe me when I say we had enough cake, between the wedding cake and the birthday cake it was alot. I haven't had a craving for cake ever since.

I had a custom cake made at the Boardwalk Bakery and it was the best cake I had ever eaten. It was vanilla cake with bavarian cream and strawberry filling, and buttervream icing. Seriously, the best cake ever.

In fact, it was so good that we are going to fulfill a lifelong dream of ours. We are going to get two cakes made, one with HIS and one with HERS on it. We are going to take a before picture of each other and then just bury our faces in our cakes. I've wanted to do that since I was a child - still am I suppose!

That is awesome! It sounds like sooo much fun! :lmao: Make sure you take pictures!!!

This is a picture of my Escape Wedding Cake

Here is a picture of what my cake will look like, thank you Maggie for the picture. My planner told me that this is the basic SeaBreeze Point cake. Our flavor is chocolate chip cake with chocolate mousse.

tink8jr - Your cake is beautiful! Did you have to pay extra for the flowers? Was that something you requested?

Lynn - The cake flavors you picked sound yummy! I didn't see chocolate chip cake on the list of flavors. Is there an extra fee for it?
