oh Sandra.. your just lovely for going to all of that trouble. I sure appreciate it!!! Thank you so very, very much!!! this email just popped up when I was shopping for a linen wedding hankie on shopirish.com! LOL.... I have Ireland on the brain today!!
My friend went to Ireland several years ago... it has been our dream to go together one day... but she wasn't sure I could do it in the w/c. If my dh makes the trip with me I am sure he can man-handle my w/c into a few of the difficult spots. I figured historic sights would be the biggest of problems. I can walk a very short distance.. but need the w/c most of the time. The tour that perdido took sounds grand.
where abouts in cork were you my dad comes from cork and most of his family still live over there
i loved looking at your pictures and would love to see some more
Breathtaking! Thanks for bringing back memories of my trip to the Emerald Isle in '94.
We were a group of 7 and were lucky enough to have a custom tour planned by a travel specialist friend. Several nights we stayed in real castles (Dromoland & Kilkea are two names I recall). We visisted many of the same towns you did.
Did you get to the Cliffs of Mohr?
I highly recommend Ireland as a travel destination. The people are so warm and welcoming, and we had fabulous food and a wonderful guide (had a "coach" and driver all to ourselves).
Thanks everyone for the kind remarks about my photos...and you will be seeing more soon.
Yes I did make it to the Cliffs of Mohr... it was a windy blustery day and I, like several other fools, laid on our tummies to inch up to the edge and look over
I still don't know what possessed me to do that! This is one of the photos I took looking straight down the cliffs
and this is a photo showing where I was at when I took the shot
Your pictures are great!! We spent two weeks in Ireland, the summer of 2000. We went with my parents, our two sons
and my sister and her family. We had a wonderful time.
My grandfather was from Killarney, and we spent a week there.
We did a lot of day trips from Killarney. We then went to
Connemara. When we went to the Cliffs of Mohr, it was also a
windy day. I did not stand that close to the edge, but
my BIL did. I still have the picture. There wereseveral people on their stomachs looking over the edge. My kids loved it there! We'd love to go back to Ireland one day. My youngest DS still says that the friendliest people he ever met were in Ireland.:
oooooooohhhhhhhhh...beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
We were there in 1988.........for a week in November....B&B's and a rented car ....a similar route to yours...Dublin, then sort of south, and then up to Shannon.
We had Thanksgiving Dinner in Bunratty castle and an evening at Durty Nellie's too
How very, very pretty, perdido, looks so relaxing, so scenic. Nice pictures and thanks so much for sharing!!! Those first couple make me think of Rose & Crown! Hmmmmm.
Please, anybody who has been if you have links post them. My dd is a jr. in college and I have promised her a trip for a graduation present. I have two sons who surf. They very much want to surf in Ireland. If this sounds odd, apparently it is a popular thing to do. So I was planning on just taking my dd but I'm wondering what it would cost to go. Also wondering if there is a time of year that is less expensive and a time that is more. By this summer I want to have the details ironed out and begin making bookings so that I can have a year to pay it off.
