Photos - glossy or matte finish? Which do you choose?

I just got 600 photos developed - 10 cents each from our fave local pro photo shop! And might upload lots more before the special ends on Wednesday.

I'll have photos to keep me scrapping for months and months...Rebecca, watch your back, as I'll be gunning for you in the page layout totals...

But, especially for those of you who have been scrapping for awhile - do you get your photos with a glossy finish or the matte? Which do you prefer - and why? I've been thinking about this for awhile - since I just usually choose the glossy (don't really know why), while Z2H chooses the matte for hers. Is there any real advantage to either that I don't know about, or is it simply a matter of which your eye prefers? Does one work better than the other with the clear page protectors most of us use in our scrapbooks?

I've been scrapbooking for a while now,...I prefer Glossy, I find they are richer looking on the pages, but really i think it's a personal preference. Happy Scrapping!

I always use glossy too, and use the CM digital center to develop my photos. I also use snapfish (to use my free Archiver's prints) and always choose glossy. I just like it so much better. I think it makes the photo look sharper - does that make sense?

I'm a matte girl. I just love the way it looks. My personal preference.

I am a matte girl too! With glossy I seem to see fingerprints a lot easier. Also I like the matte because it gives my pictures a canvas feel to them.

Both. I love matte because there is less glare and fingerprints but some pics, like the one I have of Expedition Everest that I printed in 8x10, are glossy because they pop and show up details.

I use both. I tend to use glossy more for vacation/ everyday stuff. But when I've printed wedding pictures and other special occasion stuff, I use matte.

i almost always use Matte. I don't know why, I think I just like the flatter look to the photos with matte.

I always choose glossy. Sometimes I've messed up and chosen matte by accident and I hate those prints.

A lot of my scrapbooking photos are in glossy b/c that is what Walgreens offers when they have a $.10 4x6 prints sale going on.

my Walgreens said if I call them right after I order, I can switch to matte. You should ask if you can do the same.

I like the matte because I always forget to wipe off finger prints. They show up less on the matte. The glossy always looks like matte when I am done with it.

Zeff Photo in Belmont (near the Arlington line). Their 4x6 10 cent online special runs through the 20th - the code is 10centprints. They do beautiful work.
