Photos and Christmas Cards

Has anyone had any luck using their purchased photos to make Christmas cards? I'm worried about how the borders will affect that? Looking for any tips and tricks that people have used to make it work.

I always use the digital photos I buy to make our Christmas cards. Also use them to make a photo book and sometimes a canvas collage. Some borders are easier to crop than others. I really wish the borders were optional. I can't stand them.

I don't think I've done this with Christmas cards, but when I make my photo book (Shutterfly) I use embellishments to cover things I can't crop out.
