Photopass

Not to hijack the thread, but I know next to nothing about Photopass: did I read that the little card that comes from Disney with our other documents can be used during all future trips? Thanks!

All I know is that we are less than 2 weeks out, I get Disney Destination emails, I booked through Walt Disney Travel, I have checked every email, and I still haven't gotten the email about the cd for 99 bucks. I went ahead and registered the photopass that came with my travel documents and we'll see if I get an email that way. If I don't, what is the phone number that you guys have called to get the deal? Thanks.

I thought I had not gotten one either. I learned from another thread on here that it is tricky and buried within an E-mail. Go through all the Disney Destination E-mails you have gotten in the last month or two. At the bottom of one, you will see a reference to photopass. It doesn't say anything about a pre-order or discount. It looks like just a photopass ad. Click on it and it will take you to the photopass website's offer for the pre-order deal. I would never have noticed it or found it if another Diser on here had not posted what to look for.

I have checked. The only email that I've gotten from Disney Destinations was really close to when I booked our trip, which was in June or July. I have read and re-read this email, and nothing about photopass, not even an ad. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Sorry it didn't help. I went back and looked and mine was in a Disney Destinations E-mail titled Disney Vacation Must Sees for the Family. We got it exactly a month and a half before our trip. At the bottom it had what looks like an ad that says "Disney's Photopass", with 2 sentences under it promoting photopass in general:i.e. capture magical memories etc., but making no mention of any discount or pre-purchase. Under that it says "Click here for details", when I clicked it, it took me to the pre-purchase offer on the website. Sorry guys, it didn't have any links for a friend. I think I would try contacting photopass and asking about it if I were 2 weeks or less out from my trip and had not gotten anything yet.

One question I had is that with the pre-Order, we have a custom photopass card being sent to us that supposedly links the photos directly to our account when they are taken. Does anyone know if that means the 30 days will start running from the time the picture is taken if we use that card? If so, I'm not going to use it. I want a full 30 days when I get back for edits, borders etc. I don't know whether to use that card; the card that came with our travel package that we registered; or just pick up a new one from a photographer in the parks.

I meant to check with PhotoPass on this today but something else came up, but I suspect the 30 day clock would start.

I'd advise to just use new cards. Won't lose anything by it.

Thanks! I was able to find this email and get the pre-order price. I also got the custom photopass. I would have completely missed this if you hadn't told me where to look.:woohoo:

I've gotten the email with the pre-order (still not sure how I got the email given that we didn't book directly through Disney but I got it) and just received our package information in the mail today. My question is: should I just do the pre-order or do the pre-order and register the card they sent? I definitely want to get the $100 deal but I don't want to miss out on any other potential discounts either. And a previous poster brought up the point about activating the 30 day limit the first time you use the pre-registered card. Would it screw something up to do the pre-order and pre-registered card? Ugh, this is so confusing! It was so much easier the old way!

if you can pre-purchase, pre-purchase. register the card later for any future potential discounts. they won't get any better than the pre-purchase.

evidently if you create an itinerary on the WDW site, it triggers the email. some DVC people have reported that.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's the best (and safest!) thing to do. As for the email, I think my husband did create an itinerary on the site as the email didn't come to my normal email. But it's strange that I didn't get one to my normal email as I'm registered on the site and added this vacation to my account. I'm certainly not complaining that we got one but it's just bizarre.

We booked through Disney and never got the email with the preorder discount. A few days before our trip I called the photopass help number. After veryifying our reservation details they gave us a coupon code to get $50 off the CD which we can order after returning from the trip (no pre-pay required). $100 for the CD is much more reasonable than $150.

What number did you call? Because I sent photopass an email and they were of no help to me. They pretty much said I received the email and there is nothing they can do to help me. Even though I know that I didn't receive the email.

I really need the CD cheaper.

I don't know the exact #, my notes are at home. I called the phone # listed on the actual photopass website. If you call and they aren't helpful, hang up and call back to plead your case to someone else. It shouldn't take you too long to find someone that will actually help you.
