please could anyone explain about photopass is it any good ? how much ? and how do i go about getting it ? many thanks.:thumbsup2

You can pre-buy it for $99,you also can as others have done "advertise" to share & spread the cost. Basically when you have your pic taken by a CM,you will be given a unique swipe card, all you then do is hand it over at the end of your holiday (if paying there) or on your return home enter the No. on the reverse & all your pics from WDW will be there. The incentive to do it at home is that you can add borders & effects for free. Is it worth it? Depends on how many character photos you would normally buy? The majority of rides are not on this scheme but nearly everything else is eg we had a night time shot down at Epcot with the ball all lit up.The incentive is to get as many photos taken as poss to maximise value.
If you can spread the cost all that happens is that someone gets nominated to be "in charge",you divide the $99 by x then add eveyones card No. then copy the CD.

i bought the prepaid cd and found it excellent value for money, i ended up with a cd with 171 photo on it, the were cropped, edited to black & white, borders added etc and i'm very pleased with them.
last year was our first family visit and didnt think i'd have enough on the cd to buy it so i had the photobook made, which is also fabulous!!

whichever you decide, i'd get loads of pictures taken anyway, dont forget the 'magic' ones, with tinkerbell and stitch etc appearing in them, my kids really loved those ones!!!

We were really pleased with ours and ended up with 2 Cd's for the same cost as we had so many photo's (over 400) so it was really good value with the pre-order

We had approxiamtely 310 photos on ours this trip after editing. :) The PhotoPass is totally worth it in my opinion! :thumbsup2

how far in advance do you all order the prepaid cd? is 1 month before you go ok or do you leave it as late as possible?

I dont think it matters, I ordered mine last week, i have 1 month and 11 days to go. I am going to ring to book the photoshoot at the resorts with it when it gets to 30days.

I ordered mine at the end of last week, you will be sent a code to enter when you want your CD made. From my investigations, everyone seems to wait till they get home, type in there Phtopass no then add their borders etc, save them to the account, then order the CD.I'm sure you could probably add all this whilst on holiday but someone else will have to confirm that.We bought our CD on our last night unaware that we had to put on the effects ourselves (although I suspect that this wasn't available then!) & lost all the special effects that had been added to our HM picture taken during MNSSHP!

Personally, I think it's best to wait and order the CD once you get home. You cannot add the borders, etc at the stores in the parks as it is too time consuming for the CM's - the queue just gets longer and longer while they work with one family. :headache:

You could of course use your own laptop if you've brought it with you, but who wants to be stuck in their hotel fixing up their photos when they could be out enjoying themselves! :confused3

Just as an FYI - it any of the special effects that the photographer adds have not appeared on one of your photos, give the good folks at PhotoPass a call - apparently they can resolve this for you! :thumbsup2

To be honest.. I was considering pre-ordering this and was glad that we didn't as we hardly got any taken. I appreciate that others find it good value (especially if you do the GF photoshoot or BBB) but I definitely would recommend ordering it at home so you can check that the photos are worth it to you/that you had enough taken to make the cost worthwhile. We might reconsider when we have kids to take or maybe if we go a group of people but only if we ended up with hundreds of pictures!
As an aside: I believe you can get a refund on the pre-order price if you find you don't want the photos after all, just something to keep in mind.

Lizzy what makes it worthwhile for us is that normally we would at least buy a CM took park photo, plus at least one Mickey Mouse,Pooh,Donald....so even at $99 we are saving money. Also we had some Night time shots done,& although our digi is of a excellent Spec, without a tripod night time shots have been a disaster! In all I think we had over 100 pics done, some of which weren't great I might add,but still good value for us.I also like the look of the photopass album,we always buy an album & never ger round to putting the photos in it!

I like the pre order option. It's a good discount ($25 off) and no risk as you can cancel it within two weeks of your return home. I have already ordered mine for my December trip.

Does anyone know if this special offer of pre-ordering the photopass is only for this year?.We don't go till April+was'nt thinking of ordering it until about Feb/Mar.Or would it be ok to pre-order now for April-i'm worried that the offer ends and i miss out,or worried that i order it now+for some strange reason they don't honour it etc..in 8 months time??.x.

The value for us is:

1 x CD = $99

OR

10 x 4"x6" photos = approximately $150

By ordering the CD, we get all the photos including the ones we cropped, added autographs or borders, etc. Then we can print the ones we want in the sizes we want. :thumbsup2

As Lizzybear stated, if you pre-order the CD and find you don't have enough pics on your card to justify the cost, just cancel the order within 2 weeks of your return home. I don't think you can beat that deal anywhere! :goodvibes

Michelle as far as I know the pre-order deal of $99 is on all the time, I used the same discount last year and it's still on for this year. Just save the webpage to your favourites till you're ready :thumbsup2

BTW apparently if you say to the PP photographer that you've already prepaid he takes more photos :thumbsup2

Cheers Jo,have no added it to my favourites.Feel better knowing that you got this last year at this price.x.
