I am going on my homeymoon in 8 days and I have a higher budget to go with than I thought I would. So I think I have decided to get a photopass because I want a lot of pictures of us together. So could someone please explain everything about photopass to me because I'm a little confused.

Hello,

My family and I went to Disney in May and did photopass and I loved it. The Card looks like a credit card and they scan it every they take a picture. Photographers are all over the park and by most meet and great character locations. I believe that they are at the water park as well.
We did somehow end up with 2 cards and they were able to transfer all to one card at the photopass help desk. The CM gave a help full hint that if I was going to wait to make a purchase when I returned to write down the number on the back of the card just in case it was lost. (I left the number on the home answering machine just in case) You can purchase the prints and add graphics at the locations, but found a better value ordering the cd. You can purchase the cd at the Disney location but was told that you cannot add the graphics. I added graphics to the pics at home and then ordered the CD. The graphics were cute - such as Tinkerbelle with pixy dust with a caption were dreams come true, a 2007 graphic, park graphics. They have some character graphics Your pal Mickey, Minnie Donald and Goofy. When adding the graphic they will save it with the graphic and a copy of the original. They also give a release on the cd that prints and copies can be made for personal use. The pics are on line for 30 days @ Disneyphotopass.com.

Hope this helps and have a great safe trip!

Congratulations on your upcoming nupituals,

The prepurchased photopass deal is definetly a great value. With Photopass, you can take as many pics as you want and they will include them on as many cds as necessary. Within our 7 day trip the beginning of this month, my partner and I got over 200 pictures. By editing your pics online you can put different graphics, signatures, etc on them. In the end, we had over 1200 pictures (5 cds)! I was extremely happy with that. Even though my DH was a wee bit annoyed with me (sometimes more than just a lil annoyed) he was happy to see all the great pics we got. Everytime you see a photopass person around, have them take some pics of you as a couple and then some singles, you'll be happy when you get home. Just beware if you want to add the graphics, it takes quite a bit of time.

Have fun on the honeymoon,
Anthony

We took a lot of pictures on our photopass, but all the photographers will also take a picture with your personal camera. Most of the ones from our camera were just as good as disney's. If we saw one we really liked...we bought it.

Also, if you know how to, you can also view them online, take a screenshot of the page, then use a graphic editor to cut the screenshot just to the image. You can them print them out at a photo center. It isn't totally high-quality, but enough for 4x6.

We have always used photopass & we love it!
We have gotten the cd & dvd before but this time when
when we got back we ordered the memory book. You get to upload your own pics and use the pics from photo pass, you get to pick out different bakground pages and add your own text. I wan't too sure about it, but when it came we were really surprised, they are wonderful! We are actually going to make them for our parents as wedding albums.
I definately give photo pass 2 thumbs up!
Some people thinkt that it's expensive, but whether ording prints, the cd or the book, I think it's worth it.

Let me expand a little on what PoohsHubby said....

The way the photopass works is, you have a choice about how you view and purchase the pictures. You can view them at the various viewing stations in the theme parks, which almost always have long lines and you end up VERY crowded around the monitors trying to look at your pictures, especially if you have a larger group trying to look. And then, you are trying to decide within a few minutes all the purchases you want to make. You can buy a cd there too, but you don't get to do anything special to the cd.

Or, you can create an account on-line, and register your photopass card on the account, and look at it at your leisure, and decide what to buy. You have 30 days from the time you register a photopass card - that's how long the pictures will be on-line.

From here on out, I'm only going to address the on-line option, because I haven't really dealt with doing things in the park, because it's just too limited that way.

----
Now, there are some other choices you can make with photopass. Sure, you can just buy prints only from Disney - but generally, Disney's print prices are expensive. You can get as good a print quality from the prints if you buy the high resolution disk and take it to somewhere that has photo printers. If you want VERY good quality prints, you might want to go to somewhere like a Ritz camera or a place that is dedicated to just photo printing. It will be more expensive than you could find elsewhere, but should still be cheaper than the prints from Disney. If you want more than just a couple of prints, it ends up being worth it to buy the cds and go somewhere to get prints.

If you don't need the best quality prints, go to Wal-Mart or Sam's Club, or, if you have a printer that can handle printing good enough quality photos, well, you'll know that already.

As far as buying the cd - if you wait until after your trip to buy the cd, the cost is $124.95 plus shipping. If you pre-purchase the cd, the cost is $99.95 with no shipping. To get the pre-purchase, go to this link: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx

The really good news with this is that it comes with a satisfaction guarantee return policy. The way they do the pre-purchase is that they give you a promotion code to use when you go to buy your cd after the trip. If you have done the pre-buy, you have 2 weeks after you return to decide if you are satisfied with the cd you are buying (i.e., review all the pictures that will be on the cd, and make sure you think it's really worth the money.) If you are not satisfied, you can "return" the cd for a full refund - as long as you have not already used the promotion code they sent you. In other words, review those pictures carefully right away, and make your decision within 2 weeks. DO NOT buy the cd using the promotion code until you are sure you want it. If you decide it isn't worth $100, let them know, and they will give you a full refund. Otherwise, go ahead and purchase the cd, using the promotion code they e-mailed you, and they will credit you for the full purchase price of the cd and for the shipping on the purchase order.

The thing that isn't clear on the page they have about this deal is the language about the timing. For one thing, it says that to pre-buy the cd, you need to do it "before your trip". It doesn't really give any hard and fast dates. I have not actually done this deal yet - I'm just giving you the information that I've gathered together from my reading. How they determine if you're eligible or not could depend. My guess would be that as long as you pre-buy the cd sometime before you have your first picture taken on a photopass, you are eligible for the offer. That's just a guess though. I know they record all kinds of information on the photopass card, certainly time and date stamp of when the picture was taken at the least, and since many people do not stay at Disney resorts, that would be the only way they have of measuring when your trip "started". On the other hand, it could be that you could do the pre-buy just before you actually buy the cd. But I don't think I would risk it.

The other timing language that's unclear is the 2 week timeframe for the satisfaction guarantee. I mean, if you are on a two-week Disney vacation, and you put your Photopass in the first day of your trip, does that mean your two-weeks are up before your trip is over? Or is it two weeks from the last Photopass card you enter? Or two weeks from the last Photopass shot that goes into that account? EEK?!?! Not clear at all.

The way I figure to handle it, just to be sure... buy the pre-paid cd sometime before the first day in the parks, so that I've bought it before the first picture is taken on a photopass cd. And then... well, in my case, I will have a brother with NO patience on part of the trip, and he will be leaving before I do. The whole family will probably be pooling all of our photopass pictures to put on a single cd, and I doubt he will be able to wait until I get home almost a week later so he can get on-line to see the pictures. He will have his computer and internet access, so he will probably feel the need to put the pictures on-line right away. Fortunately, our trip won't be two weeks long, so we will have at least a week after the honeymoon is over to look at the pictures and make a decision. Plus, with it being our honeymoon, and given that we will be grouping pictures for not only DF and myself, but also my brother and SIL and their 2 kids, sister and BIL, and my parents, the cost of the disk will be negligible, and it only makes sense to get it for us.

Another point - as other people have mentioned, the cost of the disk is the same, no matter how many pictures you take, so take advantage. Grab those Disney photographers, and get as many pictures on those photopasses as you can.

And, one final (I think?!?) point to remember - when you purchase a cd, you can only include pictures that are in one photopass account. And each photopass card can only be added into a single photopass account. But you can add as many photopass cards into a photopass account as you want.

What does this mean? Well, you create an account at the Disney Photopass site. Once you do that, you will enter your Photopass card number into it to get the photos associated with that card loaded into the account. If you have multiple cards, you can enter each of the cards into that same account, and all the pictures, no matter how many cards you have, can be purchased for one price. As I said before, my whole family groups together to do this, making the whole thing much more economical for us. We decided to do this the last time we all vacationed together when we only had about 20 photopass pictures, because when we went through the pictures, between all of us, we were going to buy enough prints to pay for the cd about twice or thrice over. It just made more sense to split the cost of the cd and then get prints made somewhere cheaper. My home printer was good enough for the printes I wanted. And actually, for most things, I really only want the digital image anyway.

Ok, that was a long post. But hopefully, that answers any questions you might have about this. I think it exhausts what I know so far. After I've actually bought one under this discount program, I might know a little more, and maybe someone else has a better idea about some of the timing issues, such as how long before you have to buy the cd and when the 2 week period for being able to return the pre-paid cd purchase starts.

They also give a release on the cd that prints and copies can be made for personal use. The pics are on line for 30 days @ Disneyphotopass.com.

So, I can take the CD to WalMart or Costco and get pictures printed? Even after the 30 days? I've always wondered if Costco would print them. :confused3

When you pre-purchased the CD, Disney sends you a code to use upon return from you vacation. We bought our CD over a month ago. We will not be able to get our CD until January. The code is valid for as long as you want, I suppose. Disney has no way of knowing you pre-purchased the CD because it is not associated with your account.

When you purchased the CD you receive all of your photos along with a copyright release. From what I've heard, you will receive as many CDs as it takes to give you all of your pictures. With the copyright release, you "own" the photos and can therefore take them to Costco, Wal-mart or use Shutterfly, etc. to print your photos.

We're excited about our Photopass CD! We are going to have all of our guests give us their Photopass numbers so we have pictures from everyone enjoying their vacation for our wedding! :goodvibes

How many photos can you get taken on one photopass? and how does that work with the pre-paid thing? I saw in someone's TR that they filled up 2 photopasses!!

They will take as many photos as you want on the Photopass. We use Photopass alot, just never buy the photos because we have them take a pic with my camera (which is almost the same one the photographers use).

To do the pre-paid Photopass, you go to the site (http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx) and pay for it. DPS sends you code that you will use when you are ready to order.

While you are at the parks, you will get a plastic card (Photopass) and give it to the photographers each time you take a pic. We usually end up with 4 or 5 cards because I forget to give them the original, but it's okay because you can use multiple cards. For our wedding, we will have all of our guests cards to upload. There isn't a limit for how many Photopass cards you have on 1 account.

When you get home, you go to the Photopass website and upload all your cards. At that point you will purchase the CD and enter the pre-purchase code. I haven't done that part yet, but I think it will turn out okay.

One thing about the pre-purchase code, if you decide you hate your pictures, you get a full refund.

Ok, this is what I was confused about. I thought I read somewhere that the pre-paid thing only let you get one CARD, not one account. Thats a pretty darn good deal if you can upload all your guests photopass cards as well! Let me know how it works out! I'll probably be doing the same thing.

yes I took mine to Wal-Mart. All Wal-Mart did was copy the back of the cd case that shows the copies can be made for personal use and they now have it on file. There is a letter saved on the cd as well that gives us permission to print the photos anywhere for personal use and there is no expiration date.

I agree it is a great keepsake of family memories, it turned out to be a favorite souvenir. I received a promo for Christmas cards, but already ordered them locally. The email states SAVE 25% on ALL Disney's PhotoCards until December 12th promo code is HOLLY25. I'm not sure if it will work, but anyone is welcome to try. I received a promocode after viewing the pics for the cd purchase back in June, it didn't work I emailed them and they did returned one that worked fine. We ended saving 50.00 so it was worth it.

Just a tip - if the queues are low it's always worth checking your pics every few days or so - sometimes pictures simply don't upload, get put on the wrong account etc. My DBF's pic with Belle was missing but CMs found it because we knew rough time/date of picture....Also we had a few random pictures of other people that were not ours and CMs removed them...I lost a picture too and we checked too late for that and I couldn't go back and get it (by the Hat at MGM at night :( )

Worthwhile incase you have a special picture - you may be able to go back and try for another!! Other than that we LOVE photopass - we jsut wish we'd taken more shots!!

Thanks for the tip!! I wonder how they can "loose" a pic? All they do is swipe your card thru the camera, I guess maybe it doesnt take?

I think it can happen when the photographers send/download the pictures...as with a lot of technology, glitches can (even with Disney magic helping) and do happen....oh and there is apparently a Quality Control too - and if they deem thepicture to be very bad quality or inappropriate they will not add it!!
