Photopass Superthread!

I'm still kind of confused, I'm sorry to ask what are probably really basic questions.

So we didn't pre-order the PP+. When we get to DLR what do we do to get PP+? We go to a Photopass place and get a special card?

Yes, you can purchase them at either photo shop in the parks.

Just so I'm clear, can I verify a few things?
1. When I get home I'll be able to order a CD (that is already paid for) and on that CD I'll have pictures that Disney has given me permission to print out at say, Rite Aid?
2. As long as I have a photopass card, I don't have to go directly to the voucher redemption location? I can add the photos later in the day?

Thanks :wave2:
I think... THINK... that you can write down the number from the ride photo place, and once you have your PP+ card, you can physically go back to that ride photo place and have them add it to your card. I think.

Haven't read this whole thread, but is there a place or an app that will tell you the location of the Photopass photographers in the parks?

It's on the new DL app, between restroom locations & entertainment. When you are in map mode, just keep scrolling across until you find it, locations are mapped out there.

Yes the answer to #1 is right.

2. You will not have the PP+ card until you redeem it with the voucher. I find the lines are non existent at CA adv. It is super quick. You can get a regular PP card and add the pics to your PP+ later but you can't add your ride photos until you have your PP+ card. You also can't get your character meal photos unless you want to pay for them and then get refunded later.

I also have found that if you have your PP+ card the photographers spend much more time with you and do lots of poses.

Thank you!
Our first morning in the park is kind of special, and I didn't want to go to the pick-up location until later in the day. I may try to fit it in that morning during a bathroom break or something. Hopefully there won't be a line.

OMG you're photos made me all warm and fuzzy! That Tinkerbell shot is simply divine :) I'm going to check on your list where we can get that...and where can we ask for the chameleon one? DD would LOVE that and don't recall seeing it on your list?

They can usually do the chameleon one at most places that have magic shots. We have gotten it at the statue, the front of the park and in Fantasyland. I think we also got it in toontown.

Oooh, so excited! So much cheaper than WDW's PP+! I just pre-purchased ours for our trip next month. So, are the pickup locations still the same as they were in the original post? And does anyone have a photo of what the lanyard looks like?

Just to make sure I have this right- If I buy the PhotoPass + I can view my photos from my computer when I enter the card #, but I can't download them until I 'buy' them with the code after we finish all of our pics. So I should have a few taken with my own camera so I can immediately upload a group shot of our trip?

You are correct. If it's a shot that's important to me, I usually have them take it in my camera as well, just in case.

The lanyard is nothing fancy. It's just a thin black strip, kind of like a shoelace for sneakers, with a thin metal clasp holding the photopass card and a small card telling you where it can be used. You can pick it up at the Photoshop on Main Street in Disneyland or the Photoshop on the corner of Buena Vista Street near the lockers.

Thanks! I know we'll be excited to get to Disney and will want to post a few family pics on FB right away!

OK, good to know. I will probably just slip it into my lanyard pouch that I am going to bring instead.

Be sure to let photographers know you have it, since many will take more shots if they see the card. If there is no line for the photographer, I've also been known to say "I have PP+ so have fun with it if you'd like!" Most times I get a big smile and some great shots from that. (Of course it doesn't hurt that my daughter (8) is a HUGE ham!)

Hello all!

Has anyone ever had any luck using their Disney Vacation Account gift card number to purchase PP+? There is a place for a gift card on the check out page but was curious about other's experiences.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Is there still no where outside of the park to redeem the voucher? If not, when do you guys exchange your vouchers? I don't want to waste the early park hours, when lines are short, waiting in line to redeem a voucher. But I don't want to miss out on pictures in those early hours either :/

I usually redeem my voucher first thing so that I don't forget to do it. I've never experienced a long line in the early morning. If you prefer, you can wait and do it later and just use a regular photopass card until you get the PP+. You can then add both to your acct.
