Photopass shipping costs

Hello fellow Canadians. My family will soon be embarking on our next Disney vacation. Last year we were able to pre-purchase the Photopass CDs and Photobook package at a bargain and no shipping was charged as it was included.

Yesterday I received my welcome email from Disney and it contains the offer from Disney Photopass. I clicked on it to see what the deals were and I read in the small print that it does not include shipping. I have yet to act upon it as I am scared to know what the shipping costs might be. I wondered if any fellow Canadians have used their services and had to pay for shipping. I will have to look if I might be charged duty too. I love the CDs and the photobook we received so it might be worth the cost of these memories.

Thank you very, very much for the quick reply. I feel that would be worth it for that amount for shipping. I am glad you didn't have to pay duty. It looks like I will definitely go ahead and pay for the package I like.

I would buy again for sure .... great package. Make sure you spend some time after your vacation editing and saving copies of your photos. I.e you can take a photo you like, make a copy on their site, add a theme ... like xmas ... and save it ... then do it all again with a mickey theme .... lot of options!

I believe from what has been read on the boards, that the Photobooks have shipping plus duty (CDs are just shipping). I remember a thread in which the duty for the Photobooks was very high. You might want to do a search for that?

Good luck, Tiger

I ordered in November and got it in time for xmas. Shipping was $10.00 and I did not get charged duty. all I ordered was the Photopass CD but I felt it was so worth it.

I highly doubt there is duty on the books because they would have to then be made overseas. Anything made in the US wouldn't have it.

I hope we get the pre-order before we go. I loved that I was actually in some photos from our last trip!

I don't order the books though because I scrapbook. However, I need to get my butt in gear and get last year's done before we leave in Feb!

We ordered a couple of prints in November (not a whole photobook mind you) and there wasn't any duty charged, just about $7 in shipping. The shipping was actually more than the print cost (we had a coupon code).

I bought the book a few years ago and was charged alot for it.

The huge fee on the Photobook is most likely a "customs handling fee" not duty, plus GST. DHL and UPS both charge about $30 plus taxes/duties to look at your package. If there are no duties, they say/stamp it no duties and send it on to you for the handling fee, COD. You can refuse delivery, but then you have show up at the closest customs office and do that work yourself.

I really wish that disney would ship via USPS, even if it takes an extra week.

Because CDs and Photo prints all come in a document sized packages, they don't fail into this processing format.

I was wondering how you pre-order? I received a code from MS from DVC to save $50.00 off the CD but I can't find it on the site.

I paid 19 for shipping (CD only) and no duty. This was to the Toronto area. I have heard you pay a lot for shipping for a photobook so I stayed away from that. I recieved a code for 50 dollars off the CD so I plan on getting the photo CD but nothing else.

Thank you for your response. I will have to remember to have cash at the door for when they come. I have not ordered yet as I am looking for the address of our Grandparents who Snowbird down in Florida. I am hoping I can purchase it from here and send it there, as that is what I did last year for our Disney Store order when they had the deal of no shipping costs.

I truly don't like the extra expense for the photobook but I have looked at similar sites up here and they don't offer the same type of book I had with Disney. Last year when I ordered the photobook with the deal, the shipping was included and I didn't pay any duty or anything it just showed up in my mailbox. Either way, I love our first photobook and DH said to order it anyway. I will try to pre-order them after work tonight and report back if we can ship it to a US address.

Thank you Remmy:flower3:

I received an email from Disney Destinations with the offer. The offer was in the middle column at the bottom. The email also talked about all the new things going on and how many days away my vacation was. I have heard on these boards that this email was sent when they were on their trip and they "pre-ordered" when they came back then the next day or so registered their Photopass cards and was able to get the deal that way. I feel lucky to receive an email as I do love their products. To my knowledge there is no way of going to their site and pre-ordering unless you have a code. In the email I was sent, there is a link that automatically takes me to the discounts.

I hope you have a great trip.

If you don't mind me asking, were you able to pay the shipping charges by credit card before they arrived to you or did you have to pay who delivered them the costs? Last year I had the deal where I paid no shipping and no duty was charged and they (CDs and Photobook) came with no extra charges.

Thank you. Remmy:flower3:

Do you mean you were charged a lot for the book or a lot for the shipping or a lot for the duty?

Thank you

Remmy:flower3:

I paid alot for shipping but mostly duty. I believe it was another $40 that I had to pay upon delivery.

I have ordered the photopass books in 2007 and in December 2008. We did not get charged duty. The only charge was for GST, which I paid at the post office. Not sure why someone would be charged $40 plus?? I ordered 2 books at a time, both times, and I wasn't charged this.

I have previously posted my photopass book woes but would like to reiterate my problems. I ordered two books in December 2007 with a shipping cost of $30. Disney selects the shipping company which was UPS. I did not have a choice. UPS charged a brokerage fee of $39.91 per book. Each book was shipped separately, though I'm not sure why since I ordered them at exactly the same time and they were both to be shipped to my home. When I telephoned to complain about the exorbitant cost, the option of refusing delivery was presented to me in order to avoid the brokerage fees. I would then have had to travel from Ottawa to both Windsor and Lacolle, Quebec to pick up my books since they arrived at two separate border crossings. GST was $4.29 per book.

I paid for shipping at the same time I ordered my CD. I did pay with credit card. If I had been smarter I would have pre ordered. The cost when I ordered it last time was 149 US. This was May of 08. Now the CD is 149 plus shipping, not sure what the shipping cost will be this time but I'm hoping its the same. Thankfully this time I have a code.
