Photopass Question

I have tried getting this information online, but I am still a bit foggy. We are going to Disneyland for one day in May. When do I pay $39 for the photopass?.........before the trip, at the park, or when I get home? In WDW, we pre-ordered the photopass, they sent us a card (which we showed to every photographer to scan), and we downloaded our pictures when we got home. It seems you can pre-order, but they don't send you a card.......then why pre-order? I am trying to avoid waiting on a long line to get a card when I arrive at the park (its Memorial Day Weekend, so the crowds will be crazy). How do others purchase photopass? Do you pre-order? Please let me know how this works. It seems to work a bit different than WDW. Thanks

You can prepurchase it and then activate it that day on the app if you know for certain you plan to buy the photos that day. If you are not sure you do not have to pay in advance. Your first photographer will give you a photopass card and you load that onto the app - and you can keep giving each photograher that card or if not, they will give you additional ones as you get pictures taken. In the end you load all your photos onto your account and then purchase them, you have 45 days I think to do this after your trip.

This thread is very helpful!

What Sherilaine said is accurate. I would recommend not purchasing until after to make sure it is worth the $39. The only positive to pre-paying is to be able to share the pictures instantly via social media.

Thanks. I didn't know you could wait to see the pictures before purchasing. We are going on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day Weekend). I will do as you suggested......get a card from the first photographer that takes our picture. I will give that card to each photographer during the day. From what you said, I can wait until I get home, look at the pictures, pay the $39, and then download all the pictures that were taken that day. Is that correct?

Yes. That would be the way to do it. You can prepay, but you may have ended up paying for a bunch of photos you may not even want. So unless you are sure you will want them ahead of time, you should wait to purchase because you still have a lot of time to decide after.

Correct, I know it is huge, but take a look at the superthread that Sherilaine linked to in her original comment (first response) and lots of people have reported back that is the way to go!
