My husband and I are taking an adults only trip in April. We've gone many times with the kids, and have never used photopass.
This year we are contemplating using it so we can have pictures of the two of us.

My question is it worth it for two adults to get. we don't plan to visit any characters and I know that there are photographers at the character spots. Is there enough photographers at other spots to make it worth it for us.

We are only going to get it if we preorder.

You can just get whatever pictures you want and order prints. It doesn't have to be as expensive as the cd if you only want to get a few pics done. You can get 2 4x6 or 1 5x7 for $15 and have a nice keepsake of maybe a picture of the 2 of you by the castle.

I agree with the PP, you don't have to preorder the CD inorder to have great photos of you and your DH. When you go up to a Photopass photographer, they will give you a FP card that will have your photo on it, then you can take it around to any of the FP photographers. Once you get home, just enter in the number on the back of the card and your photos will appear. The only time I would suggest to preorder the CD is if you know you want to have more than one or two pictures for a video or your wall....we always preorder the CD, but then again my DH is obsessed so he will make sure we go to almost every photopass photographer he sees :rotfl:. As for where are the photographers located? You will not only see them with the characters meet and greets, but you will find about 5 of them (set up at different spots) around all the major icons at the different parks, and then you will see them at various other attraction sites. If you are either staying at or looking around the various Deluxe resorts, they are a lot of times either on the outside or the inside of the resorts.....we have gotten some great pics of our family while staying at BC and at WL. Have a blast.

You could always pre-pay the photopass CD ($99) and have multiple pictures taken. Then if after looking at the pics on the website you decide against them; get a refund of your money.

There are lots of solo travelers and just couples that take trips and use photopass; so the person who normally takes pics are also in the pictures. Very beneficial for them as well. I've seen pics of couples smooching in front of the castle and those pics are romantic. Also the night scenes at Epcot in the countries; those pics can also be edited to black and white pics, those are very nice.

So, no, it's not just used for large groups or families or with characters.

It doesn't cost anything just to approach a photographer and have a pic taken even if they're using your own camera as well.

What you get on using the photopass is the ability to use Disney borders to decorate your pictures. To have a Disney stamp of 2011 on the bottom of your pics, or a "1st Visit to Disney World", or Happy Anniversary!, just engaged! Pic of Aurora in the corner, or Tinker Bell flying above the castle pic of you and your significant other. Disney magic shots, they can put Tinker bell in the palm of your hand. Those shots you can't get with your own camera.

We are only going to get it if we preorder.

At $14.95 per print (with occasional discounts for birthdays, etc), your break-even point is about 7 prints.

That's with pre-order at $99 for the disk plus shipping and handling...

Otherwise, it's cheaper to just download the images you want and print them yourself.

Good news is that as long as you let the photographer take your picture and put it on a card (for free, you only have to pay if you later decide to buy)

They will also take pictures with your camera for you!!!! :goodvibes

Can I tag on some more questions.

We are visiting WDW in November, should I buy the photopass CD now to get the discount?

Can I use it with multiple cards - there is a group of 11 of us going but we will not be together all the time.

Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. We purchased it last year as it was a first trip to Disney & first family vacation ever. Well worth it!!

Now my husband & I are going alone. My husband says to pass, but... There's just *so few* photos of the two of us together. For example, we came home with about 300 PPP and only 3 were the 2 of us! And 8 GB on our personal camera and none of us without one of the kids.

I have used the pre-order discount every year since 2007. It seems that it has always been available in that time frame. There was a brief time that it was basically invitation only but that is now gone. The pre-order is not likely to go anywhere anytime soon. No reason to tie up your $99 for 6+ months when you can order the week before you leave.

My wife and I think it is worth it. Granted we've used Photopass (preordered the CD) for family trips in 2007 and 2010, but there are enough photographers around to really get some great shots. Especially the "magic" shots, you can probably have some fun with it. If you have a character dinner, or other event (like HDDR), you can even link your photos from that. Test Track also allows you to put your ride photo on a Photopass card. Way cool.

One caution - when you get home and edit the photos, they make you size them for specific print sizes. If you ever want to print a large size, you'd have to specify it when you edit. We didn't realize it until after we hit the "send" button on our 250+ photos with edits when we realized the files on the CD would all be sized for 4x6. They are still really nice - it is just nice to know in advance.

Thanks for all the tips. I did pre order mine for the group even though it is way early. I don't mind spreading out the cost...

Pre-ordering the CD is the only way to get that discounted price. Seems like a lot, but if you don't get photos together, this is definitely a good way to do so. Our last trip, my DH even got his 'own' photopass card, so he could have his solo picture taken when he was out and about without me. (he's a RD every day guy...I like to sleep in a bit once in a while). We then compiled our numbers at the end. Take every opportunity to get photos that you can. One of our favorites was at AK...no characters in sight...just the two of us, and all of that greenery. Lovely, peaceful photo. Plus, you get to crop and embellish your photos on the photopass site after your trip, but before you get your final disc. Nice to dress a photo up, or place a 'frame' on it. And the disk will still have the original photo on it, as well as the ones that you choose to modify. Well worth it.
