So... my DP and I spent the weekend at Alton Towers, and have decided to cover our fridge in ride photos of the whole family in the form of magnets.

I've not been to WDW for nearly 6 years :scared1: and am having trouble getting my head around Photopass and the ride photos.

Does every ride take photos?

Can all the photos be added to our photopass to be ordered when we get home, and can we order them all as individiual magnets if we like them all?

Is there the option to view the photos after each ride and buy them on the spot?

Is postage to the UK excessive if we were to order them when we get home?

Thanks so much in advance!!

I think only two ride photos can be added to photo pass if I remember correctly. although you didn't ask it, but this has an overview about the photopass locations: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/digital-photos.htm

there is indeed the option to buy all ride photos right after you get off the ride. there is a bank of tv's and you need to watch them for your photo, there will be a CM standing there with a slip of paper and you need to get their attention so they will write your photo's number down. you take that number to the register and they will ring you up, and you wait just a few min and pick it up at another counter at the same store.

don't worry too hard if you missed the number of your photo, remember the number after yours and they can go back to find yours.

warning: sometimes ride photos are 'lost'. this is often because some people like to flash the ride camera and they remove those from the system. :headache:

I am not sure on postage. hopefully someone else can step in and answer your questions more fully.

At the moment only Test Track is fully loaded to the Photopass system and you just scan your card after you exit the ride in the area where you view the photos. Since refurbishment, Space Mountain also allows you to add the photos, but if I am clear on this you have to purchase a print to be able to do so (maybe someone can clarify - I really don't recall now). Test Track is 'free', i.e. you don't need to purchase a print to get it added to your Photopass CD so if you are purchasing PP anyway you get the pics.

The 'main' rides all have photos taken with the option to purchase when you exit.

I buy the ones I want over there. It costs the same as doing it online I think, you still get the borders on the prints you purchase and you don't have to pay postage.

If you go onto the help section on the PP website there is a section on international shipping where you can see the latest pricing details for shipping charges on the products. Prints are not too bad, but postage from the US is generally not cheap so I would avoid it if I could.

this is what my e-mail states, I already pre-ordered: "Dear ,

Thank you for investing in your memories! By pre-ordering Disney's Ultimate Memory Package, you're guaranteed great photos at great savings! Keep this email handy and refer to it after your vacation when you're ready to order your PhotoCD and Photo Book.

Get a Disney's PhotoPass card from the first Photographer you see.
Use the card every time you get a photo taken.
After your vacation, visit DisneyPhotoPass.com to claim your photos and make edits too!
Place a Disney's PhotoCD in your cart.
Create a Disney's Photo Book and place it in your cart.
Go to your shopping cart and place your order. Your pre-purchase credit will be applied to your order. "

So, you order it, and when you get to the parks you get a card from any of the photographers (even those that do not pre-order get these). WRITE DOWN THE NUMBERS from the back of the card, that way if you lose it, you don't lose your photos!

within 30 days from the first photo taken, you need to go to the website to 'claim' your photos. once claimed you have 30 MORE days to edit them, and order your CD(s). it doesn't matter how many photos you took, they will send as many disks as need to give you all the photos. also included with the photo cd is a limited license... which allows you to take that CD to any photo shop and get reprints.

"The embedded limited license gives you the ability to reprint the photos at anytime"

Now I am based in the US and not UK so I don't know about shipping or anything else that may be different for those in the UK vs US. but I don't think it is much different.

While you are out there get all your photos taken - you will a credit card sized card the first time and this is used to 'store' your photos.

Once you get home you go to the photopass website and you add the card numbers. You need to do ths within 30 days of your first photo being taken. After that you have 30 days to edit and add borders etc.

Once you are happy you order your CD. You will pay an additional $10 shipping when you actually order the physical CD.

Once you have the CD you can print the photos wherever you like - we use Bonusprint online.

I also print mine by ordering online. It is much cheaper than printing at home anyway, unless you only want a few pictures printed out.

No you're right, not much different for the CD at least. I got my photos last year on 5 CDs and paid the one off standard $10.95 to have them shopped. The UK is a lot more relaxed about checking/asking for the copyright release so very few reports of difficulties printing off without showing the release. :)

What I would suggest is that you make a note of all your PhotoPass card numbers (you can use more than one and just add it as another card/s to your account after your trip). If you lose it, they are able to find your photos for you and can put them onto a new card. Or as we had a few years ago, our card and that of another person at a meet and greet in AK were accidentally switched when the CM handed them back to us.

oh thats fantastic !!

everytime we get a photopass card im going to store the number in my mobile just in case i have a habit of losing things

we moved last week and i found one memory card in with all my bathroom stuff ???

my first thought was, not the moblie, what if you lost the phone!? :rotfl:

my other alternative was to write them on the kids with permanent marker like secre funky tattoos :lmao::lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

If you take your own camera, a lot of people take a snap of the back of the card. :confused3 I will have a backpack and paper/pen so will be writing them down and sticking in a inner pocket of the bag.
