Hi, been reading about the photopass and wondered if anyone from UK has used? Is the CD compatable back home, can you copy the discs and print the photos back home? Does it cover photos taken with character meals and on rides? Thanks for your help!

Hi, we used the photopass system in March this year. We put it straight into our computer and viewed all the photos! If you get them modified (e.g. with borders on, etc) you can see all those, too. We printed a few off but found it much easier to take the cd to Asda and get them printed there. When you get the cd it has a copyright agreement which Disney said you would need to show before getting them printed but Asda never queried it. Presume it does cover character meals as long as they are taken by the official Photopass photographer. It cost us around $99 but we thought it was well worth it - in some of the photos they had my kids holding their hands out, so that when the photos are developed it looks like they are holding Tinkerbell or Simba - very cute!!!

We got one at Easter and had no problems with using it at home. We had ours done at Downtown Disney on our last day and we included all our photos on it and they give you the borders etc. Have printed some at home but took the CD into our local photo shop to get them all printed and some enlargements etc. Make sure you are given the copyright notice otherwise I believe some places will not print them. It's a nice touch to have the logos, eg Animal Kingdom 2006 and we have a very cute photo of DD with her hands cupped in front of her and Simba sits in the edited ones.

In the parks at various locations are photographers. When you have your first photo taken by one of them they will give you a card the same size as a credit card. Keep it with you and whenever you have a photo taken hand them the card and they will scan it. I can't remember how many each card holds but I think it's around 300 - not sure. You can have more than one card and when you are ready to have them developed there are several locations around Disney where you can go - the photographer will tell you where. We had ours done in Epcot. You can either have a few photos developed but each one costs around $13 or you can have them all put on a cd for $99. If you have more than one Photopass card (like we did) they just put them all together. We went for the cd and thought it well worth every penny! When they put cute borders or 'Magic Kingdom 2006' on it they look great! :thumbsup2

and if for any reason you turn up at the next park and forget your card, they will give you another one and then you can combine the pic from both cards as we did. we checked ours online as the hol went along just to see how they had come out, we went to epcot on our last day and bought them all there $99 and also got the pics with borders etc too. it is cheaper doing it that way than getting home and wanting them printed from online.

our local klick printed ours although the colours were naff so we are getting them re printed. no worries with using them though, even with the borders and edited bits.

So is it $99 per CD or per photo card ???

If its per CD, do you rush around getting your photo done to get the most pics possible per CD ???? :-)

per cd but i cant remember how many on each cd. we had about 78 pics and a further 30 modified ones(border etc). but i cant remember how many was the upper limit.

It's $99 per cd. Once we had decided to get the cd we would get photos done at every opportunity!!! Some of the photographers have to be sought out - our best photo was of the kids in AK but it was only by accident that we found him! He was on a little windy dead end path off one of the main paths!

We bought the CD and it's excellent value if you get loads of photos done. We had about 120 including some fab portrait photos at BBB.

We were there just in August and we were told that Disney no longer do the modifications if you are buying the CD.

I do believe that photopass photos are soon going to be available in the waterparks, resorts and rides (if they aren't already) so that is supercool.

We had no copyright issues, but maybe that's because they don't do modifications now. I printed some at Asda and got some enlargements done at Snapfish (poster size and the quality is excellent).

We had about 190 on our disc and a further folder holding the "enhanced" photos with another 134.

When I was talking to one of the CMs at the PhotoCentre in EPCOT she said her "personal" record was over 600 photos.

Here are a couple of examples:

we did it and found it was great value for money. We managed over 100 photos over 2 weeks without really hunting out the photographers.

i noticed last week while walking through downtown that they have an official portrait bit for the bibbidi bobbidi boutique, it is in one of the shops - the one with all the china crystal things. we walked through the shops and i noticed the sign for official bibbidi portraits. so i dont know if they are doing the photo pass cd purchase there too, it used to be epcot and one of the hotels.

When we were there on our first trip at Christmas 2003 we never saw a single Disney Photographer!

I don't know if it was just because it's a busy time of year (we were ate every park at least 30 mins before opening) but I was looking out for them as I am always the one behind the camera and wanted a photo with me and wouldn't trust my camera and lens to a stranger.

Are they about more now?
