Photopass - does it read cards as well as bands?

For the rides like 7DMT that read magic bands to take photopass photos, can it detect ticket cards as well or does that only work with bands? If you don’t have a band can you manually scan somehow (and can’t remember if there are other rides where it’s all automatic). Most I remember having the scanners still st the exit which I know you can use the cards for).

Yes, cards work just as well as MBs for those taken by a photo pass photographer. However, cards will not work for long-range (ie ride) pix.

I don’t believe 7DMT has a scanner for photos. You’ll only get that one with a band.

This is correct. Many rides have a scanner to swipe your ticket under your picture (like Buzz, RnR, EE, Space), but not all. For sure, there is no ticket scan (magic bands only) for 7DMT. I'm not sure about Test Track, Pirates (if they are still doing shots of the boat -it was new). Not sure about others.

If a ride had a ride photo before Magicbands, then there is a touch point you can use to tap your ticket or Magicband to collect your ride photo. If a ride is post Magicbands (7DMT) or a photo was added to a ride post Magicbands (Frozen, Pirates), there is no touch point and you have to have a Magicband with the long-range RF capability to capture your ride photo. Ticket media does not have long-range RF capability, only short range for the touch points. Test Track, Splash, Everest, Buzz all have touch points. Based on my experience, I would recommend using the touch points just in case on Test Track, where I've yet to get the right picture from the Magicband, and Splash, where it's been about 50/50 on whether I get my photo or someone else's with the Magicband.

You can stop by one of the Photopass desks or fill out the form online and have them find your picture if the ride has no touchpoint. Knowing the approx time you went, along with a description of your party will help them find it. Personally, it would be easier to find in park as you can't always see much beyond heads/faces in some of those pictures, but they are usually pretty good online afterwards as well.
