I am trying to decide if I want to part with $100 and pre-order a photopass cd? Has anyone done it and found it to be a waste of money? I am just worried that my family will not want to always stop to get a picture taken. Please give me your opinions. Thanks!

You can get your money back if you don't like the pics or you don't get enough to make it worth it.

Bottom line... you can get a refund if you're not happy. So, IMO, spend the $100, & get your pictures taken. If you don't want the CD after seeing the pictures, ask for a refund. If you want the pictures, you've just saved $50.

Don't forget that it only takes 7 pictures to make it pay off.

In 2003, when the only choice was to buy the actual photo, we spent $90 for 6 pictures. :guilty: We just couldn't justify spending more, so we had to choose only our absolute favorites.

With photopass, you can easily get several hundred and then edit them into several hundred more. We got 300+ on our last trip. Imagine what it would have been if we had to pay $15 each for them! The CD is an amazing deal, especially for the pre-pay price.

Plus you get the rights. You can make wallets of a favorite photo to share with family or use a photo for your Christmas cards. The $15 pics I bought back in '03 cannot be copied or anything as they are copyrighted. I have just the one copy. I would love to have been able to give copies to our parents, or have one for a frame and one for the scrapbook. The CD makes all that not only possible, but easy. :thumbsup2

I was never a photopass person and couldn't imagine myself seeking them out. HOwever, we took a big family trip and I wanted pics of everyone so I got the CD. It was great and even without waiting in long character lines, we got plenty of pics. There are enough photographers in the parks that you rarely have to wait long for a good shot. The only exception to this, for us, was the Osborne Lights.

I love it. I don't always get it -- but I go down quite a bit, so it's not a "must have" for every trip.

I'd say it's worth more if your children/family spend a lot of time at character greetings, and worth less (not worthless) if you attend no character greetings. There are great non-character spots for photos, but I find they really capture nice and semi-candid shots when they snap away at a child meeting a character.

My husband and I went back and forth on the PhotoPass, and we decided to buy it knowing we could be refunded if we did not want it. We are SOOOO glad we did it! We got over 300 pictures on our 7 day trip, and with the edits / zoom ins / borders / b&w changes, my final order had over 600 pictures! I can take the CD to any photo place and get copies, and it was SOOOO nice to be on a trip together and not have to ask people to use our camera for pictures, or take pictures separately.

That being said, we really made an effort to stop for photos- sometimes we would be trying to rush to a ride or attraction, and we would make ourselves stop for pictures. We are so glad we did- there are some amazing pictures of us, and we were able to get pictures together with the characters, too, which was nice.

Another thing we did, that I would reccommend- if there are a few PhotoPass photographers out, get your picture taken by more than one in the same area- sometimes one of the photographers will get a different angle or zoom in more closely- we loved having the variety of a number of pictures in the same general area.

Hope this helps!

Don't forget, you can upload all of your pictures and edit them disney borders and logos too, plus have disney stock photos added to the cd too.

We had 30ish photopass photos, but ended up 2 cd's worth of pictures by the time I cropped, zoomed, add things and added stock pics to it.

So, so, so worth it!

We are a family of five and it was so nice to have all 5 of us in a picture and not having to ask a stranger for help. We loved it for pics by the castle or tree of life and especially when meeting characters. We also used it to make our own Christmas cards and the cost of the CD was probably saved just by doing that. Well worth it!

Thank you for the Photo Pass info - we had the same questions.

I am so glad about the refund policy.

Can we see our photo's which will be on our photo pass at a WDW photo shop (like the one under the globe in EPCOT) before we leave WDW ?

We ttravel to WDW during peak time - summer June/July - so I am not sure how many Photo Pass Photographers we will find in the Parks.
Do they also hang out at DTD ?

Thanks for answering more questions :goodvibes

We've never done photopass, but we are going on a big trip this winter with another family. Is it legal to copy the CD? If we go in together, $50/family is very do-able, but we'd need to copy the cd to share then.

Oh and are there photopass people at character meals?

ok so I just pre-purchased my CD for my trip in October... now I am a little confused on how it works... so I get a card from the first photographer that takes my picture, and then I use that card each time I see any other photographer, and then what happens when I get home from my trip?

Thanks!

you get a photo release with the CD so you can do whatever you want with it. I have shared ours with family and friends when we go. I think I copied it once, another time I just copied my pictures onto my hard drive and gave the CD to my friend. I know you can order a second copy for a fee.

The only time there are photopass people at character meals are for the ones that come with the meal or a character/family photo out front. Not when they come to the table.

So dont forget if you go to CRT or Akershus that include photos you can add those to your CD as well. You can also add the Test Track ride photo for free. If you purchase any meal or ride photos they can then be added to the CD also but you need to buy those on the spot.

Yes, make sure to take a picture of the card code, that's what you'll need. Also, if you split up, or forget the card, just get a new one. You can add as many cards to your account as you want.

You'll log on to the photopass website and it will ask for the codes from your card(s) and you'll input them, and up come your pics.

Also, I think you can view that at the parks, but there's no reason to waste your time. Just do it at home.

Once you get teh cd it's yours, so I don't see why you couldn't share.
