Photopass CD Price Going Up

Would someone please tell me what the photo book is??? Well....I know...pretty self explanatory ....BUT.....if someone got it was it nice??? We are surprising our twins in December with their first Trip to WDW and it sounds like a great keepsake.

Thanks so much!

Something to keep in mind is you can make your own photo book using a number of different sources from shutterfly to costco.com

I did one thru shutterfly because I got a free coupon for one. $8 for 20 pages with a hard cover. Had I have known it was going to turn out so nice, I would have bought another 10 pages worth.

Costco, shutterfly (and others) allow some decent editing to be done or you can choose pre made layouts if you want it easy. You won't get all the unique disney flair BUT if you already edited your phtopass photos, you will have some on the pictures already.

Just some options because the Disney book is quite pricey.

Personally I wouldn't plunk down $179 for the cd's. That's just crazy. $100 for us came out to be about $17 a day. Worth it?

Well, in most instances my wife had them (either the PP guy or the CM) use our camera too and the PP pics were rarely better than ours. The only ones that stood out were the night time shots, where we just used the internal flash vs bringing one.

For those couple dozen shots, at $100 it was worth it IMO.

$179? They can fly a kite. I'll bring a flash next time.

Now if they are going to include ride photos and character pics from the meals in with the PP package for $179, I might be tempted.

Last time we coughed up $20 for a pic at tuskerhouse with Donald. It was a picture perfect shot in every aspect, we passed up MANY other photos though.

Wow...$170 is more than our point-and-shoot camera cost.

LOL. Totally ridiculous. You can get a really nice point and shoot for that price. The Nikon coolpix is an excellent P&S and I dare say most folks here could probably take the same exact pictures the CM do. Rarely have I seen them take better pictures.

Canon powershot is another excellent digital point and shoot.

Can you order single prints. I would never pay that much but some times it's nice to get a shot with the entire family.

FWIW---as I know some people were saying the prepurchase code didn't expire.

I emailed them thru the photopass webpage to validate that and was told that the credit I would receive via a preorder would expire on 12/31/2012.

So -- that won't work for our trip next year.

We've bought Photopass in the past, but will skip it on this trip. We'll just take more of our own photos.

With the increased cost of airfare, resort stays, tickets, etc., cutting Photopass was something I was considering doing anyway. Now it's a firm decision to not buy it.

If (and that is a big "if") that CM was right, there are going to be a lot of unhappy people. The fine print when you purchase the preorder says that it has no expiration date. I would call back and see what they say. You might even read them the fine print when you call, and ask them to explain why it says that if it is not true.

Hopefully, more people will feel this way. That is the only way to send a clear message that the price increase won't be tolerated.

I really don't think it will faze Disney at all.

With so many other photo options available these days: tablets, smartphones and great quality digitals at cheap prices, I just don't see Photopass as a necessity these days. Heck, there are many of us with the same or better quality cameras around the parks these days too!

And I think Disney knows this, and that is why we have seen much less Photopass CMs the past couple of years. And that is why they aren't worried about a price increase at all. I don't think as many people are actually using Photopass the way Disney intended - they are using Photopass CMs to take photos with their own cameras, or they are taking the obligatory photo, and not purchasing them.

I can see Disney instructing CMs to stop taking pictures with guests' cameras so the only way to get your entire travel party in one picture is to ask another guest, use a timer on the camera or photopass with the hefty price tag.

I called the number on their website two different times today to ask about this and both times was told that it would not expire. We will be at WDW in Jan 2013 and was told it would be fine to order now. They did tell me that if we decided not to use it that we would not be given a refund though.

Thanks so much for posting the prepurchase link. I had been all over the photopass website looking for it just now and was almost convinced they must have stopped offering it. Our last 2 trips I ended up getting such good pics that I came home and made my memory book online after buying the CD and paid for it separately at $80. At least this trip by doing the prepurchase, I'll be getting it for free.

I can't express how glad I am that I came across this post tonight! Just pre-ordered for my September trip! Last year the pictures came out great and we had a lot of fun seeking out all the different locations to take pictures at! Also loved the fact that we got to take some good pictures with the villains at MNNSHP last fall! Thanks again disboarders! :cool1:

I do not know if I would purchase the pp again. Our pics from last year were horrible and only a few were actually good enough to print. We even had pictures of other people in about 4 of the pictures :sad2:.

Thank you so much for posting the link to the discounted pre-pay. We are going in May and have looked all over for it!

I just hope that if it is not worth the $100 that refunds come easily. There have been many mixed reactions to the photo pass. But I am willing to try it just get some family photos instead of myself always missing.

The refund is only available within 90 days of the date that you preorder. So keep that in mind if your trip is after that 90 days is up.
