Hi, I was just about to preorder photopass+ online, for our upcoming trip. When we ordered a regular photopass in 2011, it gave us the option to pay for a cd to be shipped, or have a digital download. Now, it appears that we have to pre-pay for our cd to be shipped, with no option for the digital download. Is this accurate or is there a way around this? I'd prefer not to pay the extra $15 for a cd.

thanks!

The CD they are making you pay to be shipped has a bunch of stock photos on it as part of the photopass plus package. You won't get the download or the CD option until you have photos in photopass account.

As EYDF said, you are paying for the shipping of the stock photo cd which is part of pp+ And includes your photo cd voucher sealed inside the plastic case.

You MIGHT be able to avoid the shipping charge by calling the photopass number and inquiring if the stock cd can just be sent to your resort (I would inquire before ordering online if the shipping is a dealbreaker for you.). You may then need to pay tax on the cd, but it would be less than the shipping cost.

After your trip, when you are ready to redeem your photo cd, you will have the option of digital downloading or paying a (second) fee to have an actual cd shipped.

So... If I don't preorder the photopass+, I don't pay for this initial cd thing? I know I don't get the preorder discount, though...

The extra CD is still included in the price, so even without the discount they will send it to you however if you alos get your photos on a cd they will likely not charge extra for shipping both.

You can call to have the preorder added to your resort reservation. There would be no shipping cost, but they will charge you about $8 in taxes. This must be done at least 72 hours prior to arrival. You would then get the stock CD once you are on property.

The pre-order, and I'm assuming onsite order, include shipping within the US of both CDs.

Apparently as early as this summer, international guests had to pay a $15 shipping fee that covered both CDs. That has changed.

Now, you would be charged international shipping twice if you pre-order ... once for the pre-trip shipment of the stock CD and then again for the post trip Archive cd (if you want the physical CD or if you exceed the number of photos allowed for digital download).

This double charge is a fairly new thing ... it came into play in late September / early October. I remember being annoyed because I had already pre-ordered and then learned here on the DIS about the double charge now happening. Fortunately, when all was said and done, I was within the number of photos that allowed me to just download my photo files (no physical CD, but no extra shipping charge either).
