Hello All,
I am just wondering if the photopass CD is REALLY worth the money. I am a big time picture taker but often am left out of the picture as I prefer to be behind the camera. However, the idea of the photopass really intrigues me and sounds like a pretty good deal. I'm not sure though if I would be one to pay $100 for the CD which CAN hold 300 pictures but am I really going to want to take the time for pose for that many pictures?
You advice and experience would be much appreciated.
Have a Disney Day, Renee

I used it for my solo trip in Feb and got the CD, since I was goin solo, it was great to get pics w/ some of the major icons in the parks and the characters. I made it a game to track down every PP photographer that I could find and as a result got some neat pics including one's w/ animated Stitch in Tomorrowland, that at the time they were still testing. For the most part there weren't really a lot of lines so it was just as quick to have the pic than to get the camera out and take it myself, especially like in front of the castle, spaceship earth, etc. Character lines were another story, but if you're going to stand in line for the autograph or meet/greet, why not get the pic while there. I ended up w/ approx 100 pics, which is alot for me.

If you want to see some of my PP pics, the link in my sig has them in there, all but a few of the ones w/ me in them are taken by the PP photographers. BTW, if you click on the pics, it'll enlarge them so you can see better.

we went in april and were able to get the photpass card with all of the borders etc. and it was awesome. Last week, we ended up getting the CD without the extras that they eliminated. Was it worth the money still? I suppose - we got 186 pics and some were better and some were worse than the ones we take. However, i believe it was still worth the money. I just wish we still had the option to add borders, autographs, etc. to a certain # of pics or pay an extra amount to have the option.

I didn't know about the CD until after our trip. I wish I would have know and then I really would have done alot more photo pass pictures. However, I did think the $99 was worth it for our 68 pictures, especially since I knew up front that there were are least 4 that I wanted more pictures of. I was actually surprized though that when the CD came, it was actually 2 cd's with 30 some pictures on each CD.

It wasn't for me.. we only got about 20 pics, it was hard to find the CM's !! I did buy about 3 of the photos once I got home.

Now if they'd start putting the ride photos onto your photopass I probably would have bought the CD! We love the ride photos!!

Disney are you listening?!

Sulleyfan - You have some great pics there! It looks like you really had a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing!!

I too wish you could add the ride pictures to the Photopass - that would have been the decision maker for us. I was not impressed with the photo quality - and the fact that you can't add the special stuff afterwards. Several times for family shots they posed my younger daughter with her hands out flat so they can add the Tinkerbell so it looks like she's holding her. Well - without Tinkerbell - she's just got her hands in a dorky pose! Ruins a perfectly good picture!

Our CD that I just got about a week ago had the pictures of DD holding Tinkerbell. In fact, those were the pictures that I thought Walmart would give us problems with getting printed. I had asked the clerk when I dropped them off and she said they would need the photo release when I picked them up and then when I picked them up the clerk (a different one) looked at me like I was nuts. This surprized me because they have been fussy about pictures in the past that even looked like they could have been professionally taken.

Did they give you a hard time with the release? That is weird! I am a photographer and I know the PPA (Prof. Photographers assoc) sues walmart almost every day for copyright laws but come on - you had a release!.... and its not like the ones from the photopass are that great (good, but not like you were in a studion with the mouse:)). I think the store who have gotten the lawsuits are really gun shy but they have made some big mistakes too. Just be all over you having the release, talk to the manager about it. Or better yet go to SAMS, they are more customer service related and will actually look at you release and be great about it.

Good luck!

I think if I were there and I got a bunch of good photos I would even buy it. Pictures are hard to pass up:)

Sullyfan, great photos! It really looks like you enjoyed your trip.

ok, i am a little confused.. Can you order it at the park (the cd that is) or do you wait til you get home and order online?
Also, those posed pics they take with the characters, like tink and stitch animated.. Those do not come on the cds?? Or is there a cd with them , and one wihtout them?
Just a lil' lost!!!

Oh, also wanted to ask--- Can you ASK the CM to take the pic with the animation on it? Like i would LOVE to have one with me holding Tink.. Can i request that they take one with that pose? Or do i have to be in the right place at the right time??

I'll try to help here.
Yes, you can order the CD at the park. I was under the impression that the park is the only place you can order the CD. Please somebody jump in here and correct me if I'm wrong on this. You definately can get individual pictures in the parks or at home by ordering online.

The posed pictures (daughter holding tink) were available online back in January and I believe they still are. Don't know if they are available on CD though. Maybe somebody who knows can jump in here with an answer.

We were just in WDW this past March and I did buy the CD. We had over 100 pictures on it and I just *had* to have it.

The best part about it, is that *you* can get in a lot of pictures. If you take advantage of as many photopass people as you can, you'll get a ton of shots. It's really easy to find the photopass people and get your picture taken. I think that once you get there, and you start getting your picture taken a bunch of time, you're going to want to buy the CD.

Buying the CD was good for us because I wanted a ton of different poses and the WDW prices for pictures as pretty high. Buying offline from their site is also expensive. With the CD, you own the pictures, you can make as many copies of any one picture, you can make your decision at ANY time, etc... I love that I own the CD and those pictures are mine forever. Photopass Pictures only last 90 days online.

Have a great trip. :smickey:

I have heard both yes, and no, to this ... can I buy the CD online when I get home? :confused3

Yes...

I bought my cd online and i love it love it love it

Ok, thanks! Now what about the characters.. Can you request a certain character be in your pic, like if you run into a Photopass photographer on Main St. , can you ask to do the "tink in your hand pose"? Or do they determine when and where they do those poses?

Most do the "tink in the hand" pose and don't even ask. If they don't offer ask, they will do what you want. They also do stich popping out of the ground or a hat. We didn't pass up a photographer. We have pics in front of the castle at several times of day. I love our CD. This is the first trip that I am in some of the pics. The quality is about the same as my digital, but all of us with the effects was worth it. BTW, my favorite is is in front of the haunted mansion where they add in the ghost and tell you to act afraid.

Thanks so much.. I guess i never paid much attention to the photopass photographers much before, seems like we were always in too much of a hurry or something! LOL

So, if i go to parks for 4 days.. how many photopass people can i safely assume to run into?I just want to have enough to make it worth the CD investment.
