Hi all!
I'm hoping one of the DL vets here can help clarify this. We're headed to DL next month , and I'm budgeting for "things". I thought I read somewhere that the Photopass CD of all your pictures the photographers take of you (including the one I want with the hitchhiking ghosts), that you can buy them all on a CD for $59.95. I also read to make sure and sign up for them on Facebook, twitter, etc because sometimes they post deals.

So on Facebook, they have :

That's right! Our $99 Pre-Arrival PhotoCD is back! Visit http://nku.me/previsit & purchase one of our Savings Offers before the 1st photo is taken. Claim your photos & add the PhotoCD to your cart. Includes all photos taken AFTER purchase (Photos taken BEFORE purchase WILL NOT be included.)

So is it $59.95 or $99? Of course we're 4 hours behind Eastern time, and when I called, they're already closed for the day. And the $99 looks like you have to buy it in advance. Whereas I thought the $59.95 was while you're at the park.

See? I'm so confused. Can someone help?

Disneyland's Photopass cd is $59.95. :)

It is a great deal if you make good use of the photographers in the park.

EDITED TO ADD: You can buy the cd in the park, but I much prefer to take the card home and check out the photos online first. At that time you can also add Disney borders and signatures to your photos. When ordering the cd from home, you'll get the original photos as well as any edits you have saved for the same $59.95.

Thank you! I wonder why on the photopass website it's higher then. Does DL have a different website?

I believe when you enter in your code from the card it recognizes where it is from. I just ordered a cd this past weekend and it was 59.95 through the regular Disney photopass website. :)

The $99 pre-arrival savings is for the WDW version of the CD. That cd is normally $149!

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but where do you get the picture with the hitchhiking ghosts at?

In our "Photopass Poses: the Cheesier the Better" thread over in the DL Community section, you'll notice a few different DIS-ers have that shot with the three ghosts. I have not been able to get that one yet, because it is apparently not available year-round, and it is never available when I go. You would think they would offer that effect around the Halloweentime season, but that's not the case. They offer it at other times of year, so hopefully when Plutorules goes to DLR next month, the Hitchhiking Ghosts effect will be available. When it is available, there is usually a photographer staked out around the entrance to HM, from what I have heard - my guess would be that they probably head over there early in the day, before it gets too crowded, but I could be wrong.

I think at DL they do this by the entrance to the Haunter Mansion. However there is not always a photopass photographer at this location. I would guess that this is one of the rarer poses.

The default mode of the photopass site is WDW. As someone else mentioned, once you put in a DLR photopass card ID number, then it will pop up with the DLR prices.

I've made two photopass accounts so I can always see both prices. I've used the DLR account, so I can always see the DLR prices, and my WDW account is as yet unused, but since it's the default to show WDW, that's OK. :)

That must be why I have never seen it! I will keep my eyes open when we are there next month - that would be a really cool picture to have - and different from the bazillion that we have in front of the castle (those are always cool, too, though). :)

Hello,
I just wanted to clarify this: When we went to WDW, I believe I prepaid for my photopass CD, but when we go to Disneyland, we should just get the photopass card at DL and have pictures taken by the photographers and then pay for the CD once we return home (I'd like to edit and add borders and such)? There isn't a reduced rate if you pay for the CD before arriving in DL? Or is this even an option? I'm sorry if I'm repeating what has already been discussed; I just want to make sure that I understand properly:) Thank you very much!

There is no discounted DLR PP CD rate. It's $59.95 no matter when you purchase.

I've done many PP shares (when they were allowed here) combining both WDW and DLR (during our Sept. WDW trip) as well as straight DLR ones. The price you will pay for the CD is determined by the last card you upload to your account. (This is subject to change at any time). So when I went to WDW in Sept. and then DLR after as long as I entered my DLR cafd numbers last I was charged the DLR amount $59.95. There was one time when one of my joiners entered his WDW after I entered my DLR ones (found one more card) and I made a special trip to DLR to have a few PP taken to get the lower price. Previously (2008 trip) the price you were charged was based on the date the last PP was taken, no matter when you uploaded it. They changed this late last year to be the last card uploaded

Yes, the hitchhiking ghost is one of the harder ones to get. I've only gotten it 2-3 times. Also difficult is Hook and Darth. The BEST way to get them is to go the the Photopass Store on Main St. and ask them if they are doing them. If not, request that you would like to do them (this was rec. to me by one of the PP photogs.)

You may luck out and find the photog. taking Hook near ROA (look for one caring a sword). He/She can take the Hook one as well as the ghosts-usually-just ask.

Also you can talk to one of the PP photogs after the Jedi Training show (there are 2 there) and ask it they can do the Darth shot (by the entrance to TL) They may set up a time for you to meet them later (when Jedi show is not on).

Don't be afraid to ask the Photogs to take different shots. Many of them take pride in their work and love to take photos. Ask one at the castle if they can take some over by Snow Whites Wishing Well. Always ask if they take any magical shots.

I will hopefully be going several times in May and plan on doing another CD. I will post those pix when I get them as well as report back on availability of photogs.

The photopass is a must to do! The DLR price is always the same when I have used it. I also once shared a photopass, when this was legal, with some WDW families. It is much easier to order the CD after you go home and get to play with the pics on the computer.
Last time I requested the Darth picture for my son. I don't think the guy knew how to pose my son, another photog was helping him. (which is fine), but when I went home and viewed my pics, the Darth ones didn't come-out. I contacted the photopass and they were very nice and explained to me that the camera did not cooperate (i think it was the new guy ;) )
Either way, this was the only picture my son wanted at DL...so make sure your photog knows what they are doing.
Otherwise, the PFF, castle, tink, ToonTown, etc...pictures are awesome!!!
I too am in search of the hitchhikers...we are going back in October.

That reminds me, if there is a particular shot that you really want, bring your card to the PP store and have them check what pictures are there. Give them a few hours from the time the photo is taken for it to appear. Then if it doesn't show up you can try to have it retaken. I've only had 1 pix disappear from my card-it was a Hook one. I did check at the store and they kept telling me it would show up. It never did. I did talk to the photog who took it on a another trip and he did tell me they told him about the missing picture. And this was not a new photographer either, it was one of my favs.

Sometimes the photog will load it to someone else's card (I've had a few over the years show up on mine). Always make sure you get your card back (I put my phone number on it with a Sharpie) and take a digital pix of the back of the card (cell phone or dig. cam). That way if the card is lost you will still have the number to upload. Don't dispair if you forget to note the number AND lose the card-they can usually still help you out. You will need to describe some of the pictures that were taken (Date, time, where, etc.) and they can usually track them down. You can do this from home but it's quicker if you do it from the PP store.

Here are a few of the ones we are talking about here for those who don't want to check out the link Sherry mentions above.

This shot was suggested by one of the photogs we have become friendly with. I love it! He had to lay on the hot concrete to take this-see below

See, some PP photographers do love their work and will go the extra mile. :cloud9:

I also once shared a photopass, when this was legal, with some WDW families.

Just to be clear, shares are not illegal. But the Dis and some other message boards are too skittish to allow them any longer, lest Disney suddenly freak out and blame the slate upon which we all type. :)

I've actually been pretty clear when talking to the photopass people, when I had a slight self-induced problem post-share, about what I had taken part in, and they were nothing but courteous and lovely about it.

But that's neither here nor there. Just get a bit twitchy to see "legal", when it's just the Dis (and at least one other place I frequent) that doesn't allow them to be arranged on "site". :)

editing to add:

OK wait. Before anyone wants to debate what I just said...I feel that after reading the terms and conditions that I am comfortable stating that it is not illegal.

Others most definitely disagree.

Someday I'll have my sis in law, a trademark attorney, look it over and see what she says. :)

People have different opinions after reading the same piece of paper. I can see where those with opposing views are coming from, though I don't end at the same place they do.

Augh, why do I have to be so nitpicky with words that I let my mouth run off? Sorry about that, hopefully my edited in stuff will help quell discontent over my views of it.

I actually personally feel that the photopass CD is such a bargain that we have since paid full price (and that's when it was MORE than 59.95, and the shipping was higher than it is now), and we will pay full price for it at WDW, too! Though, actually, we'll have family members going in on it...but still, I'd pay full price.

At least we don't have to wait 5 years to get the CD of our pix, unlike with our wedding photographs! :)

I too have mentioned having friends in on my CD to several of the PP photogs-they think it's a great idea. Makes them look better too as more of their pictures are purchased. Looks good the the guys (and girls) in suits. :goodvibes

I will also tell many of the photogs to take as many pix as they want-I'm buying (or already pre-bought) the CD. Many are happy to accomodate. Some will only take the 3 the are supposed to take.

sorry, didn't mean to cause confusion. :flower3:
I meant "legal" in the sense of Disboard and not the actual photopass sharing! :)
I also agree that DL or photopass people do not look down at the sharing.
Even without sharing, the price is a great deal and fun to have especially if you have creative photogs and have fun with it!

Yes, even $59.95 isn't too bad, as long as you can find plenty of PP photogs around. Sometimes when it's crowded they are harder to spot. (Halloweentime and Christmas, recently for example.)
