It really depends on your budget. I have found that Tiffen makes affordable but still decent filters. I only use a circular polarizer. I skip the protective filter and use use my lens hoods instead. Get something that's glass, not plastic.

Here is an interesting stocking stuffer for someone very into HDR that has been very good this year. Sadly, it doesn't do focus bracketing.
