Hi everyone! So I had a question about photography. I'm looking to get an 8 hour package, and if my ceremony is at 5pm and the photographer wants to be there 3 hours before the ceremony, they will leave at 10pm (one hour before the reception is over). Is it worth paying extra money for that last hour of the reception?? Or is it ok that they leave one hour early??

thats a lot of photography time. but i think it just depends on how important it is to you. we had a morning ceremony and reception that ended ~ 330pm. we did quite a few pics acually after we left the reception and there are some really great ones. we did some video, but just of the ceremony and the reception site. now, looking back, i am glad we had a few more "posed" pics afterward (at the GF staircase for example).

however, we were tired at the end of the whole thing too..... i think i would want pics at least till when we left. but i also did NOT get any professional pics of us getting ready, just the girls and the boys seperate before the ceremony - oh, and vicki arndt did come up and take a pic of my dress hanging before i got into it. :thumbsup2

From a bride's perspective, I understand why you might want photos until the end. You might think you will miss something if you don't. If it is within your budget, then go for it if you want.

But from a photographer's perspective, it isn't necessary at all. All dancing shots tend to look the same. I tell my clients to do the bouquet, garter, and an exit shot right before I leave for the night. At that point, they want to party anyway and relax, and it isn't usually important for me to stay until the end as the crowd dwindles and the party dies down.

thank you both so much! I decided to just nix the extra hour and put the money towards something else. I guess I didn't even think that the dancing photos would be similar but that makes sense! lol Thank you!:goodvibes
