Photography inside Disney Stores?

I was just wondering...Is there photography allowed inside disney stores? What about on rides?

Do you mean in Disney Stores like in your mall, or in the stores at Walt Disney World / Disneyland?

If you mean WDW/DLR then absolutely. Same on rides, though they usually don't like you to use a flash.


If you mean the Disney Store in your mall, you might want to talk to the manager first and explain what you want to take pictures of and why - most stores like that don't like people roaming around with cameras or video equipment. Probably more of a they don't want you to do it thing rather than a legality issue, but I'm sure you'd rather not be harassed by security.

I have often photographed in a store at the parks and Downtown, no one has ever mentioned anything or even given me a dirty look.

Rides can vary with the ride and with the CM in charge at the time. For example, in "Carousel of Progress" I have been told no photographs, no flash, and nothing at all at various times. Same for the old "Alien Encounter", where I was once even stopped from taking a photograph by a CM, and later that day no problem.
I take photographs on most rides (without flash) and CMs don't say anything. Usually they will mention it up front if there are any restrictions.

One thing that is strictly forbidden is using a flash inside a dark ride. Of course no one would ever do that (I wish).

It also depends on the equipment you're using. Once, just for the fun of it, I went into a mall with my dSLR, external flash, bracket, backpak, photo vest and a tripod. Before long I was approached by a security guard telling me that no photography is allowed.

This is before I took a single shot.
