Photography Goals for 2011

I definitely need to get an external flash soon. Ever since the birth of my daughter, I find myself relying on the on-camera flash more than I really want to. It's ok for quick snapshots here and there, and it's great that I can make the pictures look a lot better in Lightroom; but I still feel like something's lacking somehow. My Sigma 30mm has been a pleasant surprise for indoor shots though.

Other than that, I think I might find ways to enter more photography contests..... For like actual prizes. I had sub-par results during one at work; so I'm determined to redeem myself somehow.

2011 goals:

Equipment: Pentax K5 body, Sigma 30, and an UWA (don't know which one yet), ND filter(s). Maybe's: a 1.4 teleconverter, a prime lens for portraits, some type of macro lens.

Continue studying and working on flash photgraphy, PP and most of all composition.

I got so excited yesterday I accidentally posted this on the 2010 board so now I have to cut and paste it where it actually belongs..

My 2011 plans include:

Attending intermediate Canon photography training in March
Attending outdoor wildlife photog training in St. Pete in March or May
Acquiring a couple of new lenses for my T2i...a wide angle and a better walk about lens than the camera came with, possibly a better zoom lens if I am willing to sell some of my pin collection
Joining a local photography club
Taking lots and lots of pictures!

I think that is a good start! Looking forward to someone bumping this thread in about a year to see what I have accomplished and what I have not.

I recently had to tear down a wall in a guest room in my house. I realized that we've never had any guests, so my 2011 plan is to turn that room into a possible studio. Can't afford too much right now, it might take me a year or 2 to really complete, but I'm excited!

Training – I’d like to enroll in a studio portrait training class. I’ll probably also sign up for some random seminars or workshops this year.
I want to do this also! Have you found a good one? Please share if you do.

I saw that Beth Jansen is having a workshop in February. 2 days for $1400. Little out of my price range though!
