Photography Board Summer Assignment, 2010: Scavenger Hunt

Does a hamster count as a rodent?

So heres a kitten:

Note: this is a action shot of my furry kitten chashing a laser light dot. It was hard to decide what shot to post ( only took 8 or so)

I feel like I'm slacking but getting lucky at the same time......here's for today at work:

It was for Pre-K. My oldest gets out of Kindergarten in another week or so.
Very nice my kiddos (2 girls) are about 2 yrs apart, nice to have them grow up close.

I love looking at everyone's pics! They are all great. I have to get started on this.

What would we do if we were still using film all the time:confused3

You guys are so good!

I had a good time this morning, too. Will post some pics later.

Just a quick word on the storm car, which I LOVE! I don't think it will fit Icon, but it would be good for stormy.

Have fun everyone!

My first post to one of the monthly assigments in a long time.

While watching my Husband try his first Bud Light ever today, I couldn't help but take a picture. The verdict? He wasn't a fan, because real men drink lager....lager, or Scotch. :lmao:

FROSTY BEER

Looking forward to finding some more items on the list!

Just realized I have another taken today that I can use for the hunt. How exciting.

Our littlest kitten, Mr. Winkle (who is a female, by the way). She has huge round eyes that remind me of Puss In Boots from the Shrek movies, so cute.

KITTEN

Since Ann is now in it, I just want to make sure we're going for quantity not quality right? Otherwise I'm out. :lmao::worship:

Ann, I love the beer shot. Was that an 85mm prime or a zoom?

:rotfl2: You're too funny. I took the camera out for a spin after shooting only a handful of shots during 2010 so far (have just been in a rut) and felt SOOOOO FREAKIN RUSTY. You can't imagine how much crap I got today, but thank you all the same. :goodvibes

It's an 85mm prime. Blasphemous, but I don't own any zooms at the moment, decided that right now they weren't really my thing...whatever that means.

PS: LOVE your shot for "Bubble." Not sure if this is straight out of the camera or not, but if you did any editing, I think you did a great job. Not too heavy handed and had just enough contrast for my liking. :thumbsup2

:scared1:

You're more patient than I am. I can't wait to get rid of my kit lenses and grab a 18-200 maybe when the summer is over. I hate switching lenses 10x a day sometimes....and I only have 3!

This is a BEAUTIFUL shot. Did you desaturate it to get the grey tones, or was the color cast from all of the gloomy fog on the water?

Do you own any primes yet, like a 35mm or 50mm f/1.8? If not, I can completely understand why you'd think I'm nuts, but once you have one I'm sure you'll fall in love. :lovestruc

I definitely don't mind the zooming, I think it's more that I like shooting with a really shallow DOF and while the f/2.8 can produce some really nice subject isolation, I just think it's easier with f/1.8 and below. Plus, they're light, they've been making them for years so I can get some good deals on used ones (like the 85mm f/1.8 and my 50mm f/1.2) and they force me to get a little more creative than I might if I had the option of zooming.

AND contrary to popular DIS belief, I don't have many lenses. Just four, plus a lensbaby---so really five total, I guess. :cutie:

I have the 35mm 1.8. Until I step up to a D90 I need newer lenses for now. One of these days I'll take a day's worth of pictures for the assignment just using the 35mm for some nice DOF shots. Since I haven't used it in months, I think it needs to get a little dirty! Maybe tomorrow depending on the agenda hmmm.....

You do NOT need newer lenses for now, not at all! My 50mm f/1.2 is completely manual focus (on all cameras, not just mine) and since I have a D90 it doesn't meter at all. It's a piece of cake and if you over or underexpose a little, you can just make adjustments in post.

I may not own that many lenses, but I AM the ultimate enabler.
