Photography Board Monthly Assignment - November 2010: Lines

Not too sure if I have been able to capture it, but over the weekend I tried very hard to imagine "lines"...

Heather - the first one is so incredibly peaceful. :lovestruc

And the second - the second I just simply ADORE.

Excuse me for interrupting.;)

Okay, are the botton photos the Novotel Hotel on the Esplanade?

And this is how this all started. The tops ones gave me serious deja vu chills from childhood. And then I thought doesn't make sense until I went "Novotel?" on the last ones. Are the top ones on the back side of the Toronto Islands?

I thought I was crazy until I saw 'Winnipeg" and then thought I had a 50/50 chance. :rotfl2:

Okay, carry on. :goodvibes

Good eye! :thumbsup2 Right on all counts - first two are Ward's Island, third is the railing on the ferry heading back to the city, and last two are the Novotel. I was in Toronto for work recently and had some down time so I went over to Ward's Island for a walk and some refreshment at the Rectory:

I guess lines are a major part of this composition too, though I took it more for the backlighting.

Thanks for looking!

Love it!!!!

That is my neighbourhood. I mean was :sad2: for ten years. The St. Lawrence Market area. I'm in severe mourning ;) and hope to return to live one day very soon. It's lovely.

Thank you!! :flower3:

The first is just along from Surfers Paradise beach on the Gold Coast - most "famous" beach here in Queensland, with lots of high rise apartment buildings and hotels. It's hard to believe that this is only about 500m south of all of that!
And the 2nd is from my hotel balcony (for one night, anyway! ;)) looking back along the building. I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Went down to the south shore this weekend and took these pics at Oak Beach and at and near the Captree State Park Boat Basin

I had thought that I might get some nice lines at the 10 pin bowling alley....not quite the lines I thought I would get! Happy for comments on how I could improve on the angles for next time.

There were a couple of mirror balls on the ceiling....

And I liked the reflection of the lanes in the mirrors.

And for something completely different, I went looking for lines at churches.

I'd also appreciate comments on how to improve on vertical lines ... looking up!

This one was taken inside the church. Not quite what I was looking for; but I thought I'd post it in case we could learn from this....

A very windy day at Coolum Beach (on the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane) yesterday.

Still trying to get this "line" thing and I'm not sure if I actually "get it" in photos! :confused3 I understand the theory, I think, but I just can't seem to successfully put it into practice. Guess I'll just have to keep on trying!! :)
