Photography Board Assignment, June-Sept, 2011: Summer Scavenger Hunt

I'm going to give the scavenger hunt a try. We just came back from a weekend camping trip to Gettysburg PA so all of the pictures are from there. :goodvibes

Water Sports- this is as close to water sports as I get. For the record we both ended up in the drink so it was definitely a “water sport” in my mind. DH took this one so he gets the credit.

Hey Princess in Oz, thanks

What did you do to set up? Aside from the needing a wide angle lens....what camera settings did you use....and how did you go about with the faraday cage or rubber suit hire...etc?

I used the 50 1.8 set at F-22 with a remote shutter release and just left the shutter open until I was certain I had caught a couple or several seconds and up to a minute had passed (but make certain to leave it open long enough to get enough light in)... As for the faraday cage or rubber suit I was safe and sound inside the engine bay at the station where I was working that day. Other than that it is just pure luck on having a strike where the camera is facing while the shutter is open.

Uniformed Workers - we were absolutely amazed to see a basset hound as a service dog. We've had many, and they were wonderful, although very outspoken and constantly drooling. hey also as so smart that they know what to do but only did it when it suited them. This was a wonderful sight to behold and what better place to see it than in Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for the info.

I wondered how you dealt with the potential lightning strike risk! Glad to see you were inside.

It's been school holidays in Oz....and we've been taking DS to a number of attractions around town.

These were taken at the Werribee Open Range Zoo, which during the winter holidays, opens the zoo from 5.30 - 8.30 pm. I guess it's the equivalent of Extra Magic Hours at the World!

Scorching - the zoo was taking promotional shots for next year's brochures. The professional standing next to me kept wanting my spot!

It's a literal translation this week.

Princess in Oz - your zoo photos are great! Love the night time ones especially. Is Werribee far out of Melbourne?
And loving all the other photos too. Thanks! :flower3:

Here are a few more - some from May this year and some from this week. :)

Critter:
IMG_4376_edited-1.jpg

The beautiful (:scared1:) face of a salt water crocidile!

Mother and baby animal:
IMG_4391_edited-1.jpg

You can just see the little pink head of the wallaby poking out of Mum's pouch. Not the best photo, but I really liked how this hairless little one was looking out at the world.

IMG_4403_edited-1.jpg

Slightly older baby in mother's pouch. Much more adventurous!!

Gravestone, old and ornate:
IMG_4890_edited-1.jpg

Not the oldest, nor the most ornate, but the best I could do so far. Will try again elsewhere!

Angel (take two):

Tromp l'oeil:
IMG_4919_edited-1.jpg

(Well, in the naive style, I guess!!)

Emergency:
IMG_4915_edited-1-1.jpg

Bit of a stretch!! But these people were very important during the floods that we had in January.

Driftwood:
IMG_4284_edited-1.jpg

This would have to be the biggest bit of driftwood I have ever seen!! It was actually the full tree!!

Werribee is about 20 minutes out of the CBD. It doesn't take that long to get to but you can feel like you're in the country out there.

The 3rd zoo is Healesville Sanctuary and that is an hour out of Melbourne. I'm hoping to convince DH and DS to take a daytrip out to Healesville a bit later in the year.

BTW - Did you get chased down the street for your second take of that angel shot?
Love :lovestruc your roo and baby shots!

^^^
Sounds like a couple of zoo visits for me when I next go to Melbourne! They look great!
No - l took that angel shot in the cemetery and I was the only one there! If I was chased I didn't know..!!! :scared1:
The little hairless baby was so cute! Tiny little thing that he/she was! :lovestruc

Thanks!! :flower3:
