Photographing Pets

This is a picture of Stitch.
She was being a bad kitty and sitting on the kitchen table.
But, she looked so cute as she admired the flowers!

beautiful pic!

We were in the hall...I was dusting and He decided to lay down in the hall where all the lint was going...Gotta love kittens.

Not a lot of light and too many dust bunnies but he is still so cute...

IMG_3733.jpg

So cute!!! how could you not stop dusting... lol... and that face/eyes! :( miss my Georges

Me and Roman. He was having his first jumping lesson since I got him about a year ago and did very well!

PS. Obviously I didn't take the photo because that's me balanced precariously on the top, and strictly speaking he's not a pet either, but he's spoilt all the same :thumbsup2

I had to take a double take.. Roman, outside of being male, is the closest I have seen in coloring to Stormy. She had a black face that came down her neck into her front legs and also had black up her hindquarters... :) so how did you do???

Thanks so much!

Here is one of my babies, by the way...

This is Stellablue:

She got much deserved treats and catnip after enduring this photo session!:rotfl2:

awwww poor kitty!

I was looking back at this pic again.. and the "M" stuck out and I remembered a story I was told. That all cats have this "M" on their forehead... and the story says that the "M" is because a cat got into the manger with Jesus and kept Him warm, and the "M" is a mark from Mary for thanks... was awhile back that I head the story, but that is the jist of it.

She's an Akita!

They come in all colors and most are alot fluffier than mine~

:wizard:

(wow. I posted that forever ago and just happened to pop thru~)

Thank you-glad I was able to catch you! :goodvibes She looks like such a sweetie!! I guess we'll start researching Akitas!

awwww poor kitty!

I know-she is a real trooper, my little one!:goodvibes I promise I only make her do that once a year and she got handsomely rewarded for her troubles and for the humiliating factor (we used it on our Christmas cards!)

Here she is a little less annoyed, when we first got her:

I've heard that Akita's can cause your homeowners insurance to go up. Not real sure why they are on the list of mean dogs, but maybe they can be a bit mean? I've never seen a mean one myself. I love them!

Akita's can cause you to lose your insurance. seriously.

They are a wonderful and special breed. They need a home that can give them constant attention and care, they are absolutely NOT an "apartment dog." They also need to be "socialized." They need to be around other animals (not just those in your home) and other people. If they are kept too close to the home they can be aggressive towards anyone trying to come into your home. They are EXTREMELY family oriented. Getting them to love the family is easy, it's getting them to accept others, that is the challenge.

I was made to read two seperate books on akitas and training before we were allowed to take ours home.

If you can handle one, there are Akita rescues looking for homes all the time -because folks get these dogs without understanding the breed and are forced to give them away - I could put you in contact with a local chapter if you want further information.

Same for Rotties in regards of rescue... my sister and her husband have rescued 2 and may become a temp home for a site here in FL. They have always had good dogs and trained them well. I just think people need to look and research before they take an animals... it tears me up that I cant take a lot of animals and give them a home.

That is what I thought. My Dsis has 2 Akita mix dogs. Not pure bred Akitas, but I can see how they could be agressive. They are strong and very very fast. The most harm they do to anyone that comes in the house is lick them to death though. They are VERY sweet dogs.

I wish I could have a dog right now but unfortunately I just don't think we could give a dog the home that they need. I don't really have enough space to let it run and the local beaches are all closed to dogs. Also, my 3 cats wouldn't approve! :lmao:

Thanks for the offer though. I'll finally get a dog when I retire in 25 years....:sad2:

Wow, thank you for that info. We are now sadly going to have to pass on getting an Akita. We are planning to get a dog after we move next year, but will likely be moving to a townhouse. Based on your description, that environment does not seem to be best for an Akita.....too bad-that is one beautiful dog!

We are now toying with the thought of a cocker spaniel....

I have a close friend who has two Akitas. Her's are very sweet and friendly, but she trained them very well as pups. The goofy female comes to the door always with a stuffed toy in her mouth, and I don't know if she would even do anything if an intruder entered. The male might, but he's even more laid back. You can just never tell what you're going to get if you get one. They need lots of room indoors and outdoors, though.

Pictures of pets?! My favorite subject! Here are some of our girl Suika!

So I did ok then, huh? :teeth: She is a beautiful dog. I always think of Nicole Simpson's poor dog when I see one of them. Wasn't he loose when the murders occurred (which would have been a great argument for OJ's guilt if the dog knew him; I'm sure he would never have let a stranger harm his owner).

Did you see on the link I posted earlier on Spitz breeds, there are many types. If I were you I would consider a Shiba Inu. They look much like an Akita but are much smaller, perfect for condo living I'd say as long as it's exercised enough (true of many dogs). We had a white one in our family that we used to watch when his family traveled. Check into it. These dogs are very "cat like". They do have special considerations just as any other dog does, but overall, they're fairly easy to live with and good little watchdogs.

Neat story, Sha. I've never heard it before.

Shiba Inu's are absolutely a possiblity in condo living ::yes::

Bonus with these breeds? No shedding!!!!

Twice a year my akita "blows her coat" but during the rest of the year she leaves next to nothing on my furniture. They are very clean dogs, they are even known to deficate as far away from their home as they can. seriously.

Great pics everyone, here's some I shot of our mini Dachshund playing in the snow.
