I was listening to the World Service on BBC radio (I occassionally end up there since buying a digital radio) when there was an article about how odd it is to photograph food in restaurants .

Apparently it's becoming more common and the article was all about how strange it is to do this and how it takes away from the experience of eating.

I must admit that I enjoy my meals just as much if I photograph them than if I don't photograph them.

It just made me smile to listen to the presenter getting a bit worked up about the practice. :rotfl:

It's the easiest way if you want to do a trip report. :thumbsup2

they musnt have seen the food porn thread over on the resturant boards

I think the practice of photographing food has increased a lot due to the arrival of social networking sites, as much as people taking them for their trip reports.
People enjoy letting their friends know where they are, what they are doing and what they are eating while there.
Personally I have never had an issue with doing it, even back before facebook was as big as it is, and I can't see why it would wind someone up just because they choose not to do it.
Live and let live :thumbsup2

I have to admit that I don't photograph food very often - I only really photograph "special" meals that I really enjoy (or think I'm going to enjoy) such as California Grill at DLP, Napa Rose at DLR etc...

I don't normally bother with things like counter service, bread rolls and other similar meals - then again I don't really do lengthy trip / food reports :)

I love photographing food, I drool when I look at them again and it helps remember the day as a whole

There is no chance that my Dad, wayneg, will agree with this!

Don't think you would agree either judging by the prom pics - he must be proud! ;)

Think it's a daft thing to get worked up about - who cares if people take photos of their food or not? I love looking at other people's food porn, and like Kenny pointed out, with so many social networking sites and forums today, people just like to show all the details of their experiences. Nothing wrong with it at all in my book.

if photographing removes the pleasure, does it also remove the calories??

I wish!! :rotfl2:

We went out for a meal to celebrate my eldest DD's 18th birthday on Friday and the first thing my middle DD said was "Please don't photograph the food, someone in here may know me!!" :rotfl:

I have to admit to feeling a bit funny about taking photos when I do - I tend to only use my phone to do it - partly because it's less obvious generally and especially as it doesn't have a flash on it (though I'm well aware I could turn the flash off).

So - I can see why middle DD would say that - I think I would if I was her age :lmao:

when we were at WDW at Easter I ended up joking with a British guy who was also there .. we were at the Dessert Fireworks Buffet and we were both rushing to be first at the buffet, not to eat the food but to photograph it!
