I have wanted a specific photographer for months before I ever got engaged. I have tried calling him three times and left three emails over the past three weeks (looks like 3 is not the magic number here since I can't get in touch with him) I'm getting really frustrated because I love his work (it is very artistic with a photojournalistic style) He mainly works with brides in the UK but I know he has done a few weddings at Disney that were not booked through Virgin. What on earth should I do?! Should I just go with Randy Chapman instead. The guy I've been trying to contact is with Total Imagery.

Randy was automatically my first choice. I have found him easy to work with, and attentive to my calls. It's up to you though, there are tons of samples of Randy's work on the boards, which speaks for his quality of work. If you still have your heart set on that specific photographer I'd give it a couple more days. Valentine's has just come and gone, he might have had a ton of weddings.

when's your wedding? try contact him at different hours and email with sense of urgency yet not on daily basis.
If he's running a solo business then it's likely to be difficult to reach when out in the fields. Even with Randy I had difficulty reaching him, but with timing and some luck I was able to reach his wife who does most of the bookings.
Either way, if the wedding's not like next month or so, just try calling every other day, even earlier in the week.
good luck!

I have a feeling that we had these problems with the same people.

We had a photography package included in our Virgin Weddings booking, but was not able to see any portfolio or website or even contact them.
As a result, I did not want to take the risk on the photographer so following recommendations from this site, we booked Randy.

I am soooooo glad that I did because Randy is possibly one of the nicest guys you could wish to meet and his photos are awesome.

He has been an inspiration and I am now in the process of setting up my own wedding photography business, inspired by Randy and his methods, but for the UK market.

Congrats on starting your own buisness!

You are probably right that this is the same person. I've heard a lot of good things about Randy and I've been keeping him in mind because he has been so quick to contact me. The reason I was trying to get the other guy is because he does a lot of black and whites with certain things in color such as the flowers or rings. He also has one signature shot on the beach at the GF that I love. I'm just so disappointed that I can't seem to get in touch with him but if I have to go with Randy it will still be a nice set of photos.

You can do B&W's with Randy. And as for one thing in color, it's VERY simple to do if you have Photoshop, but if you don't Randy will also do that. Both my siggie pics, were plain, and I added the bits of color with photoshop. Just something to keep in mind.

Hey Melissa! I stink at working with computers would photoshop work with me?

It's mostly trial and error, and lots of patience. If you can use a mouse you can do it. You just draw around what you want to color, and then go into the menu, and change the hue in that section you just selected. It's fairly simple, but can get frustrating when you have stuff like palm trees with hundreds of little things sticking out out them, hence the patience.

Sajetto..........If you get your pictures from Randy, I will happily convert them to B&W for you.
It is quite easy to go to Grey Scale or even desaturate, but there are a few other things that can be done to give the images a real impact.

Drop me a PM and I am sure we can sort something out.
