Photographer Dilemma - Split Decision

Hi, Everyone! We just went for our site visit and vacation last week (too short as always). We also met with Misty Miotto and Randy Chapman. They're both great! Their work is beautiful and we're torn...I like one and DF likes the other.

Since there'll be a DP, having great fireworks pics of us is important to me. I'm a little weary of Randy's fireworks pics, to be honest. I haven't seen many that I really love. Misty's are absolutely beautiful, but I do love Randy's album options and his ability to create wonderful effects. I LOVE his digital flush mount album hands down. Decisions, decisions!

Has anyone else been in this, or a similar, situation...particularly between Misty and Randy? Also, if anyone has any fireworks pictures from Randy you'd like to share, that'd be a fabulous help.

we firstly went with randy and then i saw more and more of misty's pictures that we loved more. When we booked last year randy's pics all looked the same to me and misty's were a little different and thats what i liked.

Also being from the UK misty offers a cd only package with rights so its easier for us and as we know a photographer here, they can do us an album

We have booked Randy. We decide on him over Misty as we thought that the majority of misty's photos seemed to have the fake sunbeams added and we didn't like that much. That said however, Some of Misty's pictures that we have seen are really really nice.

When we were looking at Photogs we were going between the Roots and Randy. We met with the Roots and loved them and then we met with Randy and loved him!!!
We knew that both photogs would do a spectacular job so in the end, it came down to price. We sat down and made a list of everything we wanted and Randy came out MUCH cheaper.
I don't know if that helps or not....
The thing I like most about Randy is that he can do a DFTW in his sleep. He's super familiar with it and if there are problems I know he'll be able to help.

Both Randy and Misty were available on our date, and their prices were comparable for what we wanted. We ultimately went with Misty because I thought her photos had more of the fun feel I was going for. On our wedding day, she was amazing, getting everyone into place and taking photos of everything at once. She picked up on our vibe right away, and we got tons of crazy/fun shots. She was also really comfortable with WDW, and it seems like most of the Disney staff knows and likes her.

Honestly, I don't think you'll go wrong with Randy or Misty. They're both professionals, they've both done tons of Disney weddings, and they charge the same rates. I would go with the one who has the style you look; barring that, you could always toss a coin (then do the thing where you think about which side you want the coin to be before you look at it--that usually works)!

Just kidding. Can you maybe compromise somewhere? Maybe you get the photographer but he gets to choose the cake or your first dance song or something?

What about a split. Have Randy do the ceremony and reception. Then for the DP have Misty. You can probably get the smallest package for both and it might equal what you would pay for one for the whole day. Just an idea that makes you both happy.

We had Randy for our photographer. The fireworks pictures weren't all that great. There were a few here and there, but again I would hope so since he took a lot of them.

well Cindy's pics look great up there. Sorry you didnt have a great experience. I do photography and those types of lighting situations are REAL hard to capture.

I think no matter what when you get married I know there is a new policy regarding outdoor vendors in disney park. So I think you can't either Randy or Misty for the DP.

Thank you for everyone's advice! It was a great help! DF and I were talking more about it last night, and I think we're going to look into (well, I'm going to look into haha) splitting it between the two... ideally Misty for the engagement shoot and the fireworks and Randy for the ceremony and reception.

We'll be signing our contract this month or next so we'll be OK. She said it takes as long as we want, so we're definitely going to go as quickly as possible to move it along before the deadline.

I might be a little late here but I had Misty and loved her. If you haven't read my TR, check it out. It has lots of stuff about her and her wonderful pictures. I thought she was great! She was like having a good friend at the wedding!

You're definitely not late. I just popped over and read your entire TR...it makes me love Misty even more. Thanks for your input and your wedding looked so beautiful! I'm sorry that you had to go through that for your DP. Despite it all, you looked like you had a great time.
